History

Monastir Airport is relatively young relative to other air gates in Tunisia. During the battles of the period 1939-1946. this place was a military airfield. During the North African campaign, the 81st Fighter Group of the US Air Force was stationed here. Later, the place was given to oblivion and remembered only at the beginning of the 21st century. So, in June 2004, the Tunisian government decided to create a new air terminal on the territory of the former airfield.
