A young Russian city with a population of about 44,000 people is not familiar to every Russian. Where is Langepas located? On the map of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, you can see that it stands on the right bank of the Ob River, 430 km from Khanty-Mansiysk, and 930 km from Tyumen. Its fate is connected with the beginning of gas and oil production in the Middle Ob. It was born as a settlement of oil workers. The city appeared on the map of Russia on August 15, 1985. Its area is 5951 hectares. Langepas is one of the cities of LUKOIL.

It is a two-sided rectangular cloth of azure color. From below, a green stripe passes through a thin white stripe. The ratio of the height of the panel to the width is 1:2. In the upper left corner is an image of a yellow (golden) squirrel, which occupies a fifth of the length.

Climate

Langepas is a city that, according to climaticconditions can be equated to the regions of the Far North. It has a sharply continental climate: very cold winters, moderately warm summers. The absolute temperature minimum was registered at -59 oC.

Vegetation and wildlife

The city of Langepas, the photo of which you see in our article, is surrounded by mixed taiga, rich in fauna and flora. Not far from the city you can find a bear den. The forest is rich in fur-bearing animals: foxes, muskrats, chipmunks, squirrels - there are a great many of them. By the way, it is the squirrel that is the main symbol of the young city, even its name is translated as “squirrel ground”. In the swamps you can hunt ducks. Fishing is well developed in these places. More than other types of fish, roach, perch, pike, and muksun are common. On some large reservoirs in the Lokosovo area, you can see white swans.

European style city

The city was built according to new projects, taking into account new technologies. It is distinguished from other small northern cities by wide streets and spacious squares. The residential and industrial zones were built with respect for nature.

Now Langepas consists of eight micro-districts, which make up two residential areas. They are separated by the city community center. The development plan of the city provides for the construction of two more microdistricts in the near future.

Economy

Langepas is a city where 454 enterprises of various forms of ownership operate, and the active development of medium and small businesses continues. In volumeof industrial products, the main share belongs to Langepasneftegaz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is part of OOO LUKOIL. Today this company is developing nine oil fields.

The birth of traditions

An excellent tradition appeared and successfully took root in the city: City Day and Oil Worker's Day (the professional holiday of most city workers) to celebrate the completion of the construction of new architectural structures. So, the list of new buildings in recent years includes school and city stadiums, a water sports complex, and a mini-football hall. The construction of a modern hospital complex has been completed. Well-equipped medical facility consists of 10 departments. A new kindergarten attended by 280 kids has started its work. The city of Langepas boasts the first exhibition center, a he alth complex and the Cathedral Mosque. In parallel with social facilities, housing is also being built.

Medicine

Today, the city he althcare network has two independent institutions - the Dental Polyclinic and the City Hospital, which are well equipped with modern equipment, which allows doctors to introduce the latest methods for diagnosing and treating patients.

Education

Leisuretownspeople

Langepas is a city where much attention is paid to the leisure of its residents. There are 50 well-equipped sports grounds and 10 leisure facilities. Every resident of the city can take an active part in public life - 68 public organizations are registered here.

The spiritual life of the townspeople does not stand still either. Today, services are being held here in the Orthodox Church of the Icon of the Mother of God and in the Cathedral Muslim Mosque.

Orthodox church

Built in 2001. On September 7, 2001, the church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Tyumen and Tobolsk Dmitry. There are about 200 permanent parishioners in the city. 60 people are Sunday school students. In February 2002, a sisterhood named after St. Xenia of Petersburg was created at the parish. Since 2007, the rector of the parish of the temple is Priest Valery Basakin. Traditional confessions, such as Islam and Orthodoxy, make a great contribution to the preservation of the traditions of their religions, to the upbringing of the younger generation, and take an active part in the fight against drugs and their trafficking, smoking and alcoholism.

Langepas attractions

Despite its youth, Langepas has its own monuments and sights. The main one is the Square in memory of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War with a memorial complex. Gray-haired veterans and first-graders come here on mournful days for our country to honor the memory of those who, at the cost of their lives, defended our right to life and freedom. On the brightest days of their lives, people come here to lay flowers and thankall those who died for their lives.

In 2001, the president of the Lukoil oil company presented the city with a monument, which was installed in the central square. It is made in the form of a lotus flower and symbolizes the bright future of this city.

In 2005, the "Squirrel" - a symbol of the city, made of bronze, appeared on the city square of Langepas. The nose and ears of the sculpture just sparkle in the sun, because the inhabitants believe that the one who rubs the squirrel will be happy.

The well-known sculptor A. Kovalchuk, whose works can be seen in the Tretyakov Gallery, works a lot and fruitfully for the city. "Memory to the pioneers", "After the watch", "Boy playing with a dog" are some of the author's works exhibited in Langepas.

Museum and Exhibition Center

It is curious to know that the history of this still very young museum began with the collection of an amateur ethnographer who for many years collected tools, clothes, household items of the local population. Currently, more than 200 rare exhibits are stored in the museum's funds. More recently, the Young Ethnographer circle was opened here.
