Trolleybuses of Volgograd appeared on the streets of the city in 1960 on December 31st. Now there are 12 routes in the village. 280 trolleybuses go on flights; there are only three depots in the city. The fare is 15 rubles. Transportation is handled by Metroelectrotrans.

The history of the development of the Volgograd trolleybus network
Trolleybus routes (Volgograd) began to expand rapidly after the launch of the first one. It connected two districts of the city: Krasnooktyabrsky and Central. The first housed the main trolleybus depot. At the moment, it has index No. 4, and it functions to this day.
Initially, the fleet consisted of only 20 vehicles, there were 30 drivers. Given that the trolleybus service is open on the last day of December, the training of personnel began in May. Volgograd trolleybuses have increased in numbers over time, which is good news. From 20, the number of vehicles increased to 304. The development of the network continues to this day, but the number of vehicles has decreased. Gradually open new routes. These are 8a and 15a (2003), 18 (2004), 14 (2009), 1 (2008)
Several years ago, the company "Metroelectrotrans" held small lotteries and draws between passengers of trolleybuses and trams. The prizes were travel cards valid for only one type of transport and for only 15 days, as well as special tickets with a protective layer.
In 2008, the long-forgotten route No. 1 was restored. The sequence of the route and the length of the flights have not changed. In 2009, the fare for the trolley bus was increased. From 8 rubles, it increased to 10. 2013 attack
December 30, 2013 in the morning at one of the stops of route 15 trolleybus (Volgograd is a city where this happens quite rarely), working on the flight, was blown up. It happened at the "Kachinsky school" (Dzerzhinsky district). Salon completely burned down. The driver survived, 28 people were injured, 14 died. The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. The police opened a criminal case under two articles: 205 and 222. What happened was a tragedy not only for the city, but for the whole country. There were several similar attacks that year.
History of route development in the 70s
- 1977. Work has been carried out to create a new line-ring. It stretches from st. Mira to st. Khoroshev. Thanks to the new electric routes, route No. 7 was opened. He connected the city center with the street. Good.
- 1978. Volgograd trolleybuses were sent along the extended route No. 7. It covered the Motor Plant. Moreover, the above-described line has been extended to Geofizikov Avenue.
- 1979 From st. Nikolai Otrada, a new movement was opened, which covered areas up to and including Myasnikov. Thanks to this, a new trolleybus route No. 8 (Volgograd) appeared. The starting point of departure is the railway station, the final point is Komsomolets. Its total length is 17 thousand meters.
History of route development in the 80s
- 1980. The line, carried out in 1979, was extended to Gramsci. Due to this, two routes were opened, oneincreased. We are talking about No. 9 and No. 4. The first one drove from Titov Square to Spartanovka, the second - from WKO to the same Spartanovka. Extended to the already described end point and No. 8.
- 1985 A new route has been opened - No. 10 (from "Zemlyachka" to the Kuibyshev plant).
- 1988 A trolleybus line was built from the Aviator Highway to the Rybocomplex. In this regard, routes No. 7 and No. 11 were extended.
- 1989 Tram trips were reduced, so a new line was built in place of the rails. Thanks to this, it was possible to get from the "Children's Center" to Vozrozhdeniye Square using the open route No. 12.
History of route development in the 90s
- 1990 Route No. 13 was founded. It connected the "Children's Center" with the "Kuibyshev Plant".
- 1991. A new trolleybus line has been opened. It stretches from "Kachintsev" to "Konstantin Simonov". Due to this, route No. 14 was founded. Toward the end of the year, the existing line was extended, and the mentioned route was increased to 33 schools.
- 1992. New electrical lines have been installed. Route No. 15 has been opened, which connected the city center with the Hospital Complex, and the original version of flights No. 14 has also entered the roads.
- 1993 Route No. 11 was changed. Now it followed from the Fish Complex to School 33.
- 1996. Route No. 16 was opened due to the launch of the line from Krasnoznamenskaya Street to the River Station.
- 1997. Electric lines from Mozart Street to VZTU were dismantled. Accordingly, route No. 5 has been eliminated.
- 1999 A new line has been created ("Limonova Street" - "Zakavkazskaya Street"). Route number 17 appears, which moved from Topoleva to Transcaucasia. Depot No. 6 opened.
History of route development in the 2000s
- 2000 year. Some routes have changed. No. 4 was closed, No. 17 was extended, and, accordingly, he received a new number. Now trolleybus No. 18 (Volgograd) reached the "University".
- 2003. Route No. 8a was formed, which connected Kuibyshev Square and Spartanovka, No. 15a. The latter moves from the "Hospital Complex" to the starting point of departure 8a.
- 2004. A new trolleybus line was built, which connected Universitetsky Ave. and the shoe factory. Three routes are closed (No. 1, No. 13, No. 14). One of them was opened directly in the same year. In addition, extended No. 18.
- 2008. The work of route No. 1 was restored. It covered the distance from the railway station to the village of VGTZ.
- 2009. The above route number 1 is slightly modified. No. 14 was opened, No. 16 was closed.
History of route development since 2010
- 2010 year. In the spring, the work of route No. 16 was restored, in the fall it was closed again.
- 2011 year. Eliminated line 14.
- 2012 year. Closed No. 3.
- 2014 year. Route No. 7 stopped.
- 2015 year. Canceled 2. Restarteda little later, when the Komsomolsky overpass was closed for repairs. Flights 10 and 15 were shortened, and 15a was eliminated. After a while, route No. 10 was cut down again, and due to the repair of one of the highways, No. 11 was briefly stopped. At the end of the year, after the reconstruction of the Komsomolsk lines was completed, route No. 2 was closed again, No. habitual plan.
Status of routes today
In 2016, route No. 6, which passed through the Krasnoarmeisky district, was closed. The work of the network, lines and depot of this part of the city was frozen for an indefinite period. No. 15 changed its end point to "Railway Station". Route No. 15a has been restored. In the spring of this year, lines were removed that correspond to the movement of track No. 6. The direction of route No. 12 was changed.
