Christianity originally had a special relationship to water. Ablution has been a symbol of purification for thousands of years. The main sacraments of the Christian faith are inextricably linked with this action.
Holy Baptism
The most important sacrament, after which the one who passed it accepts the Christian faith and becomes worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. In Russia, after the adoption of Christianity, bathing in consecrated springs became a favorite folk tradition. By immersing in healing waters, believers received spiritual purification, and with it, boundless inexplicable joy. Some cases of ablutions led to healing from bodily or mental ailments.
Wudoo springs are available throughout the calendar year. They give special power on the church holiday of Epiphany. On this day, for reasons that are still inexplicable to humans, water on the entire planet changes its qualitative composition. Even tap water collected for Baptism can be stored for a very long time without changing its normal color and smell.
Scientistseven carried out a comparative analysis of drinking water from the tap and collected in the holy spring. Analysis of water from holy places showed the absence of any bacteria, as well as high biological activity. Faith and prayer have such a strong effect on the structure of water.
Proper visitation
It is better to visit holy springs, having previously cleansed yourself with fasting and prayer. Also, do not forget about modesty in clothes - this is still not an ordinary bath. Where there is an opportunity, a font is necessarily organized. It happens that many do not have the courage to plunge completely. Then it is enough to wash your face, hands or feet, just drink water from the source. Ablution must necessarily be accompanied by a prayer in which a believer cries out to God for help. God's Grace, if the believer is worthy of it, will not become less from this.
All Orthodox springs are holy and healing. They may not have a rich history, but once consecrated, they are filled with Grace. Just as the source is inexhaustible, so there is no limit to the miracles that are awarded to the soul and body of a truly believing Orthodox person.
There are countless such springs on the territory of our country, especially in the middle part of Russia. You can always find out about the nearest consecrated spring from Orthodox believers or from the staff of the local church. Local residents who have holy springs in their neighborhood consider it preferable to drink water from them rather than from a water pipe.
Main holy springs of the Moscow region
The history of our state is closely connected with the OrthodoxChristian faith. Today one gets the impression that Russia has become the last stronghold of Orthodoxy, defending its Faith. The population of our vast country in the bulk of the people are deeply religious. Numerous temples, historical architectural monuments, monasteries and holy springs of Russia testify to this.
A fairly large number of Orthodox centers are located in the suburbs. Where the holy spring is located, which gives healing from ailments and strengthens faith, it is always crowded. We will look at the most visited in the capital region.
Rattle key
At the village of Vzglyadovo, 14 km from Sergiev Posad, a spring has been flowing for more than 600 years. The holy spring appeared here from the prayer of Sergius of Radonezh, when the monk stopped at this place to rest while traveling to Kerzhach. The elder prayed to God for the unity of the Russian people and overcoming the yoke of the Mongol khans. During a kneeling prayer, a stream of water escaped from the rock, which was later popularly called the Gremyachiy Klyuch waterfall.
In terms of mineral composition, water is similar to Kislovodsk springs, but with a lower degree of mineralization. The water temperature is 4 degrees all year round. The rock divided the stream into three waterfalls. The right one helps to heal heart diseases, the left one heals women's diseases, and the stream flowing between them relieves headaches. People gave the streams names: Faith, Hope, Love. Even in bad weather, you can always meet believers who have come to the source for help.
Source of Sergius of Radonezh
On the outskirts of the village of Radonezh, near the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, there is another source. The parents of the Russian saint also lived in this Slavic settlement, which appeared in the 9th century. From here, in 1337, Sergius became a monk as a young man. The people gave the spring its name. All these centuries, without ceasing, the source beats. The holy spring gives pure, cool and tasty water. Old-timers talk about the numerous help in healing various ailments. The spring daily gives its Grace to many believers who come here not only from the surrounding area.
Man's well
The source, located in the village of Muranovo, Pushkinsky district, was consecrated in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the century before last. The spring became known in the middle of the century before last, when the Tyutchev family built the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands on the site of the acquired estate. Prayers and the sacrament of baptism were held here.
When the spring was cleaned in the late 90s, it turned out that instead of one spring, exactly 12 springs beat. After that, the flow of believers to the Barsky well increased markedly. This holy spring has helped many. The testimonials, which are passed from mouth to mouth by pilgrims and local residents, speak of healing from skin diseases and the rapid healing of open wounds.
Source of the Ascension Davidovsky Hermitage
It is located in the small village of Talezh, Moscow Region. The place where the spring beats is under the control of the monastery, which is located 30 km from here. On the territory there is a temple - a chapel, a belfry, a male and female font. The holy spring was consecrated in the name of the foundermonastery, which was from the family of princes Vyazemsky.
Since 1515, when the monastery was founded, there have been many cases when the spring helped get rid of various eye and liver diseases. In addition to pilgrims seeking healing, this spring enjoys great fame for performing church rites of baptism and weddings. The strict rules of the monastery operate in the temple, so photography and video filming is strictly prohibited inside.
Holy springs of the Samara region
Samara land is also rich in life-giving springs - there are 1536 known springs in the region. A little more than 40 are considered blessed and saints. Among them there are nameless ones, but the main number were consecrated at different times as the place of the appearance of miraculous icons of the Most Holy Theotokos and saints of God.
After the era of Soviet atheism, when Orthodoxy was subjected to unthinkable destruction, the holy springs of Russia are being restored again. Both local authorities and the diocese with believers take a great part in the restoration of infrastructure and the improvement of the territory adjacent to the sources. People come to these places not only from all over the region. Many visitors from different parts of the country who, having learned about the many cases of getting rid of various ailments, come here in the hope of finding help.
Reliever from troubles
The small village of Tashla, in the Stavropol district of the Samara region, is always full of daily visitors to the source in honor of the miraculous image of the Virgin.
Local resident KatyaChugunova October 21, 1917 in a dream, the Mother of God showed where the icon with her face lies. In the morning, going to the place, Katya saw two angels carrying an icon illuminated by a bright light. In a small ravine, a small icon of the Mother of God was found. Taking it in her hands, the believer saw a spring gushing out of the ground.
The rector of the Trinity Church, despite the numerous cases of healing that took place at the icon, showed doubt and disbelief, but decided to leave the find in the church. Two months later, the icon disappeared from the church. The watchman, who was on duty at night, spoke of lightning that struck from the church building towards the newly built chapel at the source. Surrounded by many people, the abbot Dmitry opened the chapel and opened the lid of the well over the source. There he saw in the depths the very icon from which the glow came, and the frozen water was melting along the edges of the well. He immediately repented of his unbelief, and the icon immediately surfaced, thus allowing people to find it again.
Since then, the icon has been kept in the temple of Tashla, and tens of thousands of believers were able to touch the gift of the Virgin. During the great drought that began in 1920 and lasted for 2 years, the spring was the only one that provided water to the residents of the village. Already at that time, many believers from all over the Volga region rushed to the healing spring. And the icon, which also gave the grace of healing, became a real support for all believers in a dashing revolutionary time.
Holy Lake
A narrow and winding lake located outside the village of Syezzhee is a special holy place onSamara land. In 1958 there was a manifestation of God. From the hole, a villager saw a glow. In the radiance one could distinguish the church, the altar and the Mother of God, Nicholas the Wonderworker and the archangels standing nearby.
People fled - many were healed. The authorities didn’t do anything: they covered the lake with manure and filled it with diesel fuel. But the miracles continued. Believers and curious onlookers were even driven away with water from a fire hydrant. But people still went to the lake to look at the heavenly faces.
After that, the lake began to have inexplicable properties. Gone are the mosquitoes and midges, which are innumerable on the neighboring lakes. Water has buoyancy. There are fish in the lake, and big ones, but no one can boast that they managed to catch at least one.
And one day at dawn, balls of all colors of the rainbow began to fall from the sky onto the lake and the adjacent shore. They moved along the water surface and the shore in different directions. There was a commotion in the village. Most of the residents tried to catch them, but no one succeeded either.
After these events, scientists studying anomalous phenomena, as well as biologists, became interested in the lake. The fact is that plants grow on the shoreline of the lake, which are not found anywhere else in the Samara region. Water drawn from the lake can be stored for more than 10 years, retaining a pleasant taste and smell. Sediment and algae that enter the water storage tank are completely dissolved in a short time. Such properties cannot be explained scientifically until now.
Those who recently visited the wonderful lake said that it was noticeableshallowed, and the banks are getting denser and denser with high reeds. What caused these changes, no one knows. But water still has its wonderful properties.
Inexhaustible Chalice
In the village of Volzhsky there is a holy spring of the Mother of God, named after the icon of the same name, which helps those suffering from drunkenness. Its age exceeds 300 years. It is interesting that the source gives a bucket of water every second for such a long time. People come here from all over Samara in the hope of getting rid of a serious illness and strengthening the power of faith.
Many stories of miraculous deliverance from a disease that destroys not only the body, but also the soul, daily bring here those possessed by the disease. Many are brought to the spring by suffering wives in the hope that their faith will help the other half come to their senses and stop the ungodly deed.
Znamensky spring
The spring springs up on the slope right from under the roots of the trees, forming a small stream. In the second half of the century before last, the icon of Nicholas of Myra appeared in the waters of the spring. An old shepherdess found her and brought her home. However, in the morning the icon disappeared. Soon other shepherds again found this icon there and took it to the merchant from Znamenka. His icon also disappeared the next day.
For the third time the icon was found by a we althy peasant Alexei Ivanovich. He was a pious man and immediately built a chapel near the spring, and enclosed the source in an oak well.
Pray to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for St. Nicholas of the summer go tosource from all over the area, and at the beginning of the last century, people gathered from all the Volga provinces.
Power of Faith
The saints of the Orthodox Church never doubted the healing power of water, which is full of springs. Each believer must decide for himself how to relate to this. Numerous cases of cures for ailments, sometimes even documented, raise more questions than they give answers. Skeptics view such cases as favorable coincidences. But in life, luck is sometimes a miracle.
If Faith is strong, then ordinary tap water can work wonders. Everything is the Will of God.
