Grodno Mound of Glory is a memorial complex erected in memory of the defenders of the Fatherland who died during the Great Patriotic War. This is a small embankment, at the foot of which there is an exhibition of military equipment. You can climb to the top along specially equipped paths.

History

The Mound of Glory appeared in the second half of the 60s of the last century. The laying of the memorial complex was carried out on September 17, 1968. The grand opening of the historical monument took place on September 17, 1969. The memorial complex was erected to perpetuate the memory of the soldiers who died fighting for Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, the October Revolution and the Civil War for the reunification of the Western part of the country with the BSSR. For this, land was brought from the mass graves of the heroes of the Soviet Union, the Red Army and from each district of the Grodno region. It took less than a year to build the historic memorial complex.

The Mound of Glory in Grodno posted intruncated cone shape. Its height is 18 meters, and the diameter of the base is 56 meters. The memorial complex is edged with a monolithic concrete ring, which has a plastered cladding on the outside. On April 10 this year, a Su-24MR aircraft was brought to the territory of the memorial complex in Grodno. The new exhibit has replenished the collection of military equipment. "Scout" was brought from Baranovichi from the 116th air base of the village of Ross (Volkovyskdistrict of the Grodno region). On 2014-09-05, the equipment was brought to the exposition form. Experts of the city executive committee said that the SU-24MR tactical reconnaissance aircraft should become a worthy decoration of the memorial complex, which is the Mound of Glory in Grodno. The history of the aircraft, its features, information about the place of service is presented on a special information stand, which is located near the exhibit. The SU-24MR is a reminder of the Belarusian pilots who died in the war defending their Motherland. The new exhibit is a debt of honor to all military pilots.

Historical note about the Russian "scout": SU-24MR is a Russian tactical reconnaissance aircraft. It is used for conducting complex reconnaissance both day and night. The first tests were started in the autumn of 1980. The aircraft received armament in 1984, and a year later, its deliveries to the Air Force began.

BRSM plans to equip the Mound of Glory

In the near future, the Grodno Regional Executive Committee must approve the start of youth construction near the memorial complex in Grodno. The Mound of Glory will be reconstructed. According to experts, the project will require about 30 billion Belarusian rubles. rubles. Near the memorial, paths, green spaces, granite slabs with commemorative inscriptions will be updated. It is planned to create an alley in memory of the soldiers-internationalists of Grodno, who died while performing their military duty in Afghanistan. The Mound of Glory should become a youth construction site of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. Its renewal will be completed by the 70th anniversary of the country's Victory. Local authoritiesthey want to modernize the complex in such a way that it would be possible to organize commemorative events, military-patriotic actions on its territory. In the spring of this year, cosmetic repairs were made on the Kurgan and the territory was landscaped.
