Kakhovskaya station is one of the oldest metro stations in the Russian capital. In general, the first branch of the Moscow metro opened in the spring of 1935, and this transport hub has been fully operational since 1969.
In August of this year, a section of the Moscow metro line from the Avtozavodskaya station to the new one, which later became known as Kakhovskaya, began to function. The length of this section was 9.5 km.
Section 1. General description of the object
From an architectural point of view, Kakhovskaya station is a shallow subway. It belongs to the type of reference stations, which differ in that they have additional floor supports. The construction of stations of this type was widespread in the late 60s - early 70s. 20th century. Since the supports are installed in 2 rows, each of which has 40 columns, this type has received the playful name "centipede". The step between the columns is 4 m.
Section 2. The history of the construction of the Kakhovskaya metro station (Moscow)
A standard project was used in the construction of the station. The concept of "typical" in this case refers to the technicalequipment, which, thanks to its perfection, has been used for a long time without modification. At the same time, the interior decoration and bright solutions of architects contribute to the fact that each station subsequently represents an original object, very expressive and unlike other typical stations.
Kakhovskaya station got its name from Kakhovka street, which can be reached by one of the exits from it (there are 8 exits to the city from this station). Through underground vestibules today you can go to Kakhovka and Yushunskaya streets, as well as to Chongarsky and Simferopol boulevards. In the center of the hall, you can go to the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line - Sevastopolskaya was later built under this station. As a rule, the map of the city clearly shows the Kakhovskaya metro station, so neither Muscovites nor guests of the capital usually have problems with orientation.
Section 3. Features of the station and reasons for its popularity
The ceiling lighting of the station hall accentuates the ribbed surface of the ceiling. In general, the Kakhovskaya station is a metro station, for the decoration of the floor of which gray granite and labradorite were used. For finishing of columns - marble of red-brown color. This color scheme contributes to the formation of a solemn mood.
A person who is at this station for the first time and is not in a hurry about his business, not noticing anything on the way, can fully feel the strict beauty of the hall. At the same time, thematic inserts on the walls dedicated to the heroes of the civil war createspecial mood - one gets the feeling that you are in the premises of the museum.
Station "Kakhovskaya" - metro, the decoration of the columns of which is also of interest to paleontologists. Experts in this field note that marble for columns belongs to two types, although to the uninitiated in a special field of knowledge, all facing material seems to be the same. If you look closely at the surface of the marble tiles on the multifaceted columns, you can see very interesting and sometimes unique fossils. Cephalopods, sea urchin quills, gastropod shells and lily shards… can all be seen on the surface of tiles that were used to decorate subway columns. The Kakhovskaya station, in addition to its main function, really serves as a museum hall!
