The small urban-type resort village of Partenit is located a little east of the slope of the legendary mountain Ayu-Dag. Sometimes it is called Bear Mountain. The unusual name of the village comes from the Greek word "partenos", which translates as "virgin". In these places there is a magnificent modern park of Aivazovsky. It is located on the territory of the Aivazovskoye sanatorium complex, on the slopes of the Kuchuk-Lambad Bay amphitheater. The park is constantly evolving, combining a variety of styles and directions of world landscape art.

History of the park
Aivazovsky Park (Crimea) dates back to the mid-60s of the last century. Previously, vineyards were laid out on the sun-drenched territory. Even at that time, the place was called paradise. But after the transformation of the park, which took place in 2003, its popularity has increased significantly. And today this amazing corner of Crimea continues to develop.
Description of the park
Today, many tourists visit the village of Partenit. Aivazovsky Park is necessarily included in their excursion program. This magnificent complex does not have a single compositional space, it is divided into several separate zones.
On the slopes of the mountains there are large areas planted with plants, an ornamental garden with a mountain terrace (rockeries). You can go down from the slopes to the coast along he alth paths - special walking paths. On the Black Sea coast there is a boat station, an embankment and a coastal recreation area.
The natural runoff of water has been skillfully transformed into a cascading mountain stream. Artificial thresholds have been created here. Places that are prone to landslides are planted with species of special plants that block this process.
Vegetation
On an area of 25 hectares more than 300 species of plants have been planted - 40,000 shrubs and 15,000 trees. Aivazovsky Park has a characteristic feature - all the trees are planted in wide groves.
Amongtropical and subtropical plants (more than 150 species), you can see very rare for the Crimea Atlas cedars, lanceolate cunningamia, large-flowered magnolia, cork oaks. There are a lot of palm trees in the park, you can visit cactus greenhouses.
Terrace Gardens

The English garden is uneven terrain, winding paths, forest and field perennials.
Landscape is characterized by natural nature, large lawns. Here is a gazebo and a sculpture of the goddess Flora.
Japanese garden represents oriental philosophy: rock slides, ponds with bridges, small dwarf trees.
The Italian garden is a set of stones, artificially created reservoirs, decorated with fountains, evergreens.
Mexican is characterized by bright colors, fruit trees, cacti, prickly pear, agaves with large and fleshy leaves. This site is in the driest and sunniest place.
The antique garden is decorated with sculptures of the corresponding era, amphoras. Here, all those who come to Partenit (Aivazovsky Park) will certainly be interested in the white rotunda, brought from Italy. This is a round gazebo with a domed roof and columns. It is famous for its acoustics, which amplifies the sound many times over.
Terrace gardens bloom from early spring until lateautumn. In early July and August, hydrangea bushes, lavender, sage, marjoram, juniper, photinia and other garden crops are fragrant in the park.
Olive Grove
Aivazovsky Park is famous for its main olive grove. Its age is more than two hundred years. Back in the 19th century, it belonged to M. N. Raevsky, who owned Partenit.
It is the basis of the exposition, which is associated with the colonization of the Crimea by the Greeks, it's no secret that many people associate the olive with the Mediterranean. There is a version that in ancient times there was a manor of the ancient Greeks on this place. The compositional axis of this corner of the park was the stream crossing the grove.
Your gaze will open neat clearings in lime tones flooded with the sun. This background is diluted with fiery red roses. Olive trees flaunt in the center, surrounded by pines and cypresses.
Central staircase
Crimea attracts many tourists today. Those who like to combine beach holidays with excursions like Alushta. Aivazovsky Park allows you to have a great time after staying on the beach.
After passing through the main entrance, visitors to the park see the long staircase of Raevsky. At different levels there are large and small observation platforms with benches for rest. Take your time to go down: appreciate the landscapes that open to the eye and the bronze sculptures of Greek gods. When you get down, look to the left. A sculpture of Count Raevsky is installed here.
Recently, the staircase was reconstructed, and now work is underway on the observation deck. While the fountain installed here is not working yet, there are no fences, but all these shortcomings compensate for the amazing views of the Crimea.
Small architectural forms
Aivazovsky Park has a special layout. Here, special attention is paid to landscape gardening sculpture. The nature of the peninsula is complemented by “blotches” of sculptural ensembles and statues. There are also functional sculptures - flower vases. Original benches emphasize the unusual design.
In terms of originality and beauty of numerous pavilions and statues, man-made lakes and streams, Aivazovsky's park is in no way inferior to its eminent fellow - the famous Nikitsky Botanical Garden. Sculptures attract the eye with smooth and rich colors.
Here, the golden horses of the ex-president of Ukraine - Kuchma, which he presented to the park, are rushing towards you.
And Nikita Khrushchev is imposingly located in the shade of park trees. He serenely enjoys the healing Crimean air. I wonder if he thought how many will turn his "royal" gift?
Then in the open area you will see the statue of the Greek sea lord. Poseidon surveys his possessions with a rather menacing look. The beautiful goddess of the seas Amphitrite adorns the composition with her presence. We can say that the heroes of Greek myths feel very comfortable in the park.
