In the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, on the left bank of the Moscow River, there is a high (25-30 meters) hill called Nikolina Gora. This is one of the oldest summer cottages, which has its own interesting history of origin.

History of the name

The first mention of the small monastery of St. Nicholas on the Sand dates back to 1473. The second life of this areabegins in the twenties, when summer cottages begin to be actively built in the beautiful pine forests of the Moscow region. In 1922–1925, dachas were erected by the dacha-building cooperative of employees of the Academy of Sciences and Arts (RANIS). The terrain here is wonderful, the hill is bounded on almost all sides by a river (Moscow), a stream (Maslovsky, or the Cleaning River) and two swamps (Maslovsky from the north, Aksininsky from the west). The beautiful beaches of Diplomatichesky (embassy employees liked to come here) and Koroviy added charm to these already wonderful places. Vekovoy Bor (pine forest) is the main attraction of these places. The built village became popular and was known as Nikolina Gora.

Cultural Center

Glory to him was brought by figures of science and culture who lived here on short visits or permanently, like the composer Sergei Prokofiev. The names of the owners of local dachas were known throughout the country: O. Yu. Schmidt and P. L. Kapitsa, V. I. Kachalov and S. V. Mikhalkov, V. V. Veresaev and A. S. Novikov-Priboy, M. They were jokingly called "Petrovna's nestlings", referring to Surikov's granddaughter, daughterPeter Konchalovsky, wife of Sergei Mikhalkov, mother of Andrei Konchalovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Ekaterina Semenova (wife of Julian Semenov) - Natalia Petrovna Konchalovsky. A talented poetess, children's writer, translator, an incredibly interesting person, she was loved by the whole huge family. She is familiar to modern people as the author of the translation of the song "Eternal Love". Amazing verses. Nikolina Gora, like Peredelkino, were in those days a kind of cultural centers, where many people aspired to get.

Now Nikolina Gora, like other settlements of this kind, are becoming, for the most part, manor settlements.
