History

Civil aviation in Russia began to develop later than the military. And Murmansk is no exception. Initially, the 147th Fighter Regiment, which took part in the Soviet-Finnish War, was based on this place. When the Great Patriotic War broke out, the pilots of the same squadron covered Murmansk and the Kirov railway from Nazi air raids. After the end of the war, Murmansk airport gradually began to be rebuilt from a military base for the Air Force to meet the needs ofcivil aviation. By 1971, runways were built to receive heavy aircraft, and a passenger terminal building was erected. Now the Murmansk Aviation Company is based there.

Murmashi Airport is the only air terminal in Murmansk. It has the status of not only federal, but also international. The hub is the main air harbor of the entire Kola Peninsula.

The air harbor is located 4 km from the village of the same name, the airport is separated from Murmansk by almost 25 km. If you arrive late at night, then you have only two options: wait for the morning in a hotel near the terminal or take a taxi. The cost of a trip on the latter depends on the class of the car. On average, a taxi ride will cost 600 rubles. Already from 5:30 in the morning, passengers can use the regular bus and minibus. They differ only in capacity.
