History

Civil aviation in Russia began to develop later than the military. And Murmansk is no exception. Initially, the 147th Fighter Regiment, which took part in the Soviet-Finnish War, was based on this place. When the Great Patriotic War broke out, the pilots of the same squadron covered Murmansk and the Kirov railway from Nazi air raids. After the end of the war, Murmansk airport gradually began to be rebuilt from a military base for the Air Force to meet the needs ofcivil aviation. By 1971, runways were built to receive heavy aircraft, and a passenger terminal building was erected. Now the Murmansk Aviation Company is based there.

Murmashi Airport is the only air terminal in Murmansk. It has the status of not only federal, but also international. The hub is the main air harbor of the entire Kola Peninsula.

Most recently, the only terminal was renovated, new check-in counters were installed. But the ubiquitous spirit of trade has penetrated here too. Passengers complain that the lion's share of the terminal area is occupied by a bar, a cafe and a variety of souvenir kiosks. There are fewer places to wait for a flight.

On the second floor of the terminal there is a fish and caviar brand store. Duty free works in the neutral zone.

Passengers arriving at Murmansk Airport can use the luggage room located on the ground floor.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport.

In the VIP lounge of the terminal, you can not only stay more comfortably than in the general waiting area, but also go through all pre- or post-flight procedures separately from other passengers.

Only 300 meters from the terminal is the hotel. It has rooms of both economy class (1800 rubles) and suites (4600 rubles). Breakfast is included in the rate.

There are three car parks in front of the terminal (the first half hour is free).
