Airport description
The Pleso Airport began operating in April 1962. It should be noted that the building of the passenger terminal was put into operation in 1959, but the delays in the start of the airport were associated with a delay in the commissioning of the runway (hereinafter referred to as the runway). Already in 1966, the complex was reconstructed: the length of the runway was increased to 2860 meters, and a new terminal building was put into operation. The second reconstruction took place in 1974. This time the runway is 400 meters longer and the building is 1000 meters longer2.
The most global changes in the design of the complex were made in 1984: a cargo terminal was put into operation, thanks to which the area of the entire territory expanded to 11 thousand m2. The length of the runway today is 3.2 km.
The modern Zagreb Airport is the main international airport of the country and the main among local airlines. According to the statistics of 2009, the passenger traffic amounted to 2 million 62 thousand. In 2016, a new passenger terminal was put into operation.
