Sinopskaya embankment is one of the first embankments in St. Petersburg. It was transformed in the middle of the 19th century from a former trading port. In those years, a pier, industrial warehouses, barns were located on the site of the Sinop embankment. Trade was constantly going on here, the place was quite crowded. Only after the creation of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, the pier began to be called the Sinop embankment and found peace, turning into an ordinary St. Petersburg street. The embankment has a length of about three kilometers - on the left side of the Neva, it stretches from the Monastyrka River and Alexander Nevsky Square with the metro station of the same name and smoothly merges with Smolny Prospekt. On the map of St. Petersburg, you can easily find the way to the Sinopskaya embankment both by all possible transport routes and on foot, which will create an indescribable atmosphere of a St. Petersburg walk.
A bit of history
In different years, the embankment was called differently: Kalashnikovskaya - in honor of the famous grain merchant and owner of enterprises in the port, Okhtenskaya - after the names of the Bolshaya and Malaya Okhta, Nevsko-Christmas. In the second half of the 20th century, the embankment was finally renamed Sinopskaya, in memory of the glorious Russian victory at Sinop. At present, from the expanses of the Sinopskaya embankment, one can observe beautiful views of the Borisogreb Church and the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, and also dine with taste in numerous cafes and restaurants, where every resident and guest of the city will find a place to their liking and affordability.
Rostelecom's seat cannot be changed
At Sinopskaya Embankment, 14, is the head office of Rostelecom, Russia's largest Internet provider, telephony and television service provider. In Soviet times, the Intercity telephone exchange was located here. The building of the Rostelecom company on Sinopskaya Embankment is considered the longest structure of the entire street with a pronounced "Soviet" architecture. A monolithic building with a protruding sharp relief cannot but attract the gaze of a passer-by. And only the MFC building, located a little further down the street, can match it in size.
Cute place
Banquet hall "Sinop embankment" is quite a popular place in the city. Residents of St. Petersburg enjoy spending time here, celebrating celebrations, but weddings are celebrated here with particular frequency. For this, a special open area with a wedding arch and decor is provided, which offers a breathtaking view of the bridges and the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. Also, the banquet hall has a chic cuisine and offers from the chefchefs, and, importantly for a Russian person, you can bring alcohol with you.
Restaurant in a nice place
On the sixth floor of the banquet hall there is a panoramic restaurant, from the windows of which guests can watch a gorgeous view of the Neva River and the city, which seems especially magical at night. Holding a celebration in a restaurant on Sinopskaya Embankment is an excellent solution to the issue of leisure. The restaurant will surprise you with comfort, cuisine and relatively low prices. In the center of St. Petersburg it is quite difficult to find an institution with good cuisine, professional music and service at a price that will be affordable for almost every resident and guest of the city. Also, in the restaurant and in the entire banquet hall, there are services of a DJ and a presenter who will positively hold any celebration.
Moscow
At the very beginning of the Sinopskaya embankment is one of the largest hotel complexes in St. Petersburg - the Moscow Hotel. The hotel building houses a restaurant, a cinema loft, a spa complex, a supermarket, halls and much more for city guests who come both for the purpose of work and for the purpose of recreation in the very heart of St. Petersburg. From the windows of the hotel "Moskva" a beautiful view of the Neva opens, at night you can watch the drawing of bridges. Almost all famous sights of St. Petersburg are within walking distance from the hotel. Of all the restaurants and cafes located in the hotel building, the Ontrome patisserie, which makes unique French biscuit desserts, is especially noteworthy.
Walk along the Sinop embankment
What's a trip to St. Petersburg without walking? Of course, you need to arm yourself with a camera, an umbrella (suddenly rain!), put on comfortable shoes - and hit the road. There are not very many sights on the waterfront, but there is certainly something to see. After numerous reconstructions, the embankment is slowly but surely losing its former appearance, but the charm of old St. Petersburg is still preserved, and in order to feel the spirit of antiquity, you should take a leisurely stroll along it.
The bridges, the number of which St. Petersburg is famous for, are beautiful even here, in a small corner of the city. The Alexander Nevsky Bridge has long been considered the longest bridge in the city, and the Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge is known for its architecture - metal structures seem completely weightless. Both bridges are movable.
Of interest are two historical buildings located on the Sinop embankment. Here is the chapel of the Valaam Monastery (chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, architect Ochakov) - one of the oldest monuments of St. Petersburg architecture in the form of a small single-domed church, and the house of the poet Nikolai Nekrasov, which marked the beginning of the creative path of the famous poet.
Sinopskaya embankment can rightly be considered the second "heart" of St. Petersburg and one of the main historical places.
