Nizhny Novgorod is the administrative center of the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is divided into 8 inner city districts. 5 districts of the city of Nizhny Novgorod are located in the Zarechnaya part and 3 in the Nagornaya part.
Sormovsky district
This is an industrial urban area located in the Zarechnaya part of the city (in the northwest). The population is about 167 thousand people. The district includes the following settlements and microdistricts:
- 7th, 5th, 6th, Darino, Svetloyarsky, Cooperative;
- military town (New settlement);
- settlements: Dubravny, Volodarsky, Vysokovo, Koposovo, Pochinki, Narodny, Komsomolsky, Peat enterprise;
- Sormovo center;
Sights worth noting:
- meteor monument opposite the administration;
- memorial "Tank T-34";
- monument to steam locomotive SU 251-32.
You can take a walk along the Sormovskiy Park of Culture and Leisure, Svetloyarskiy Park, the Koposovskaya Oak forest park zone, which is located behind Kima Street.
Avtozavodsky district
Located in the Zarechnaya part. The population of the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod is about 300 thousand people. It is considered the most populous area. It consists of:
- microdistrict Sotsgorod 2, Sotsgorod 1, 6th, South, North, Monchegorsky, Southwest, Voroshilovsky;
- villages: Nagulin, Novoye Doskino, Paris Commune, Strigino, Gnilitsy;
- quarters: 52, 43 and 35.
- village of the Petryaevka station.
The main attraction of the Avtozavodsky district is the Gorky Automobile Plant with the museum of the same name. You can relax from the bustle of the city in the Avtozavodsky District Park, the Striginsky Bor forest park area and on the beaches of the Oka River and Lake Zemsnarad.
Leninsky district
This is an inner city district of Nizhny Novgorod with a population of 142 thousand people. It is located between Avtozavodsky and Kanavinsky districts, along the Oka River. Neighborhoods that are included in the Leninsky district:
- Hippodrome;
- Karpovsky;
- Red Etna;
- Molitovsky.
Also in the area there is the village of Metalist and Instrumental.
Karpovskaya Church stands out from the sights. You can take a walk in the park "Dubki" and along the beach areas of the Oka River and Silicate Lake.
Kanavinsky district
Located in Zarechnaya city on the right bank of the Volga River and the left bank of the Oka River. Has a population of over160 thousand people. The district includes:
- microdistricts: Gordeevsky, Meshcherskoye Lake (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th microdistricts), Sorting, Red Anchor, Greenhouse, Sleeper, Lengorodok, Seventh Heaven, Fair, Old Kanavino.
- villages: Yudintseva, Berezovsky.
Sights include the Nizhny Novgorod Circus, the Fair, the Nizhny Novgorod stadium, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Strelka (the confluence of the Volka and the Oka), the planetarium, the locomotive museum.
Moskovsky district
It borders on the Kanavinsky and Sormovsky districts of Nizhny Novgorod (its riverside part). The population is 125 thousand people. It contains:
- microdistricts: Krasnye Zori, Kalininsky, Berezovsky, Aviation, Burnakovsky;
- settlements: Levinka, Orlovsky yards, New construction, Birch floodplain, Ordzhonikidze.
Prioksky district
Located on the southeastern side of the city (Nagornaya), on the right bank of the Oka River. The approximate population of the district is 94 thousand people. As part of the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod:
- settlements: Lyakhovo, Luch, Dubenki, Parkovy, Tiled;
- microdistricts: Karavaikha, Myza, Surikovskiy, Shcherbinki 1 and Shcherbinki 2;
- villages: Blijnekonstantinovo, Beshentsevo, Mordvintsevo, Olgino.
On the territory of the Prioksky district there is a recreation area "Shchelkovsky farm", Switzerland park, Botanical garden.
Sovetsky District
Located on the right bank of the Oka in the Upland part of the city. The population is 149 thousand people. In its compositionincludes the villages of Kuznechikha and Novopokrovskaya.
Nizhny Novgorod region
Is the central urban area of Nizhny Novgorod with a population of 132 thousand people. This is the cultural center of the city.
Here are the main attractions: the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Chkalov Stairs, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street. The area is also home to many educational, business, cultural and public institutions.
