"A good beach" is, of course, a relative and subjective concept. Someone likes small pebbles, someone likes sand. Although you can still isolate some of the parameters by which the beach is considered one of the best. This is a clean transparent sea, a clean coastline without sharp stones and broken shell rock, beautiful landscapes around, shading and a developed tourist infrastructure (changing cabins, fresh showers). That, perhaps, is all. Beyond that, opinions differ. Give surfers a high wave, parents with small children - a gentle entry into the sea, divers - reefs and depth, lovers of noisy entertainment - "bananas", water scooters and parakiting. Here we tried to describe the good beaches of Greece. This state every year falls into the top three countries in the world in terms of the development of resort infrastructure. There are over 400 good beaches in the country. Let's take a look at the very best.
Balos Bay
In the ranking of "good beaches in Greece" Balos Beach is confidently leading. This unique place of its kind is located on the western coast of the island of Crete. The road there is difficult, and sometimes it reminds of a movie about Indiana Jones because of impassability. But, perhaps, because of this, the beach "Balos" has retained its virgin purity. The uniqueness of this place lies in the fact that three seas merge at this point. Amazing combinations of all shades of blue and green emphasize the rocks covered with pines and cypresses. Not far from the coast is the islet of Gramvousa with an ancient pirate fortress. In addition to breathtaking stories about a treasure buried somewhere here, you can personally observe sea turtles that crawl out to bask on the sand of the beach. The beauty of "Balos" is compared with Santorini. The crowned heads of Great Britain, Charles and Diana, spent their honeymoon here. The best way to get here is by boat from Kavonisi Kissamos.
Elafonisos Island
Don't confuse this piece of land off the southern coast of the Peloponnese with the beach of the same name in Crete. The name "Elafonisos" translates as "Island of the Deer". There are no animals here for a long time, but there are many tourists, especially in the "high" season. The island has such good beaches in Greece as Sarakiniko, Simos and Panagia. Oleniy Ostrov is convenient in that it is not so far from the capital, so on weekends the density of vacationers doubles there. But this Elafonissos is completely unfamiliar to the Russian tourist, unlike his Cretan counterpart.
Navagio
Greece's beautiful beaches are usually advertised on postcards, posters and booklets. And even if youhave never been to this God-blessed republic, then they have probably already seen the Navagio. The beach is as popular as Santorini. It is located on the island of Zakynthos (Russian tourists used to call it Zakynthos). This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. But to get here, as well as to the "Balos", is possible only in a boat. Perhaps the beach owes its uncomplicated beauty to this circumstance. Therefore, lovers of water scooters, riding "bananas" and other motorized types of water entertainment, please do not worry. Navagio does not have all this, but otherwise the tourist infrastructure is well developed there.
And again Elafonisos
If we were to rank "The best beaches in Greece for children", then this place on the island of Crete would take the first position. The shallow and calm sea, the coast completely devoid of any stones, excellent service - lifeguards, showers, equipment rental make Elafonissos desirable for families with kids. The sand here is amazing: pink, like a marshmallow. They say it is brought by the winds directly from the Sahara. After all, this large African desert lies exactly opposite the southern coast of Crete. The only disadvantage of the beach is its remoteness from noisy resorts and the lack of natural shade. Be sure to bring a sun umbrella with you. The road to Elafonissos is long but very picturesque. You can dine in the nearby village. Not far from the "Deer" beach is located "Balos" - number one in our rating.
Egremni
This is the whitest beach. Greece has many of them, but in a recent ranking of the most beautiful coasts in the world, "Egremni" took one of the leading positions. And it was the only one representing the resort area. This is rather strange: after all, few people know about Egremni. The more refined the audience gathers on this beach. All of them are young and he althy people. Still - to overcome about a thousand steps down, descending from the chalk cliffs, and then the same number up - not everyone can do it. But the reward for hard physical trials will be the turquoise sea and white as snow and soft as velvet sand. There is only one small cafe on the beach, but the food there is simply divine. The beach, due to its inaccessibility, is never crowded. It is preferred by romantic natures. This ideal place in every sense is located just thirty kilometers south of Lefkada. From the hotels of this resort, we can recommend The Aigli Hotel.
Myrtos
Several years ago, Greece itself, whose photos of the beaches make up its best reputation, recognized this region as the most beautiful coast of the country. And that means something! This paradise is located on the western coast of Kefalonia. "Mirtos" really captures the imagination. Turquoise water is so transparent that even at a depth of 5-7 meters every pebble is visible. The surrounding landscape with pine trees, the air, filled with the scent of pine needles, seems to say: "This is the quintessence of the Greek idyll." Perhaps that is why "Mirtos"became the proscenium for the filming of the film "Captain Corelli's Choice". But the mines, as in the movies, here, of course, do not explode. On this embodiment of the dream of Hellas, you can relax for all categories of tourists, but most of all, calm or romantic natures will like it here.
Phoenicas
The small island of Pano Koufonisi in the Cyclades archipelago has something to surprise guests with. Good beaches in Greece are associated primarily with parties and discos. I can recommend "Mykonos", it's not uncommon there, but a pleasant pattern. However, Finikas, or by the name of the nearby town, Preveli, gives odds to everyone. Having overcome by car a narrow road winding among the rocks, and then walking down a steep slope, you will find yourself in paradise. If you are not in the right physical condition to jump the steep cliffs, you can get to Finikas by boat. In this edema, a mountain river flows into the Libyan Sea, forming a small bay. A rock rises near the shore, shaped like a heart. If you come to Greece for your honeymoon, then this is the right place for you. A grove of date palms provides natural shade. The breeze disperses the summer heat. And rastamans, basking under the palm trees of this oasis, only emphasize the relaxing and romantic atmosphere of this place.
Super Paradise
Those who associate holidays in Greece with parties and discos can recommend "Mykonos". This is not an island, but a continuous ongoing party. There are very few Russian tourists here. But otherwisea very diverse audience gathers here. It is believed that "Mykonos" is a place of elite recreation. The north coast is preferred by surfers. And Super Paradise beach was chosen by nudists. The very name "Paradise" suggests that people want to feel like Adam and Eve in the garden of bliss. Following the nudists, representatives of sexual minorities also come to Paradise. So here you can easily see two Adams or a couple of Eves. On the narrow paths of "Mykonos" you can only move on scooters. And the rest of the tourist infrastructure is well developed. Little "Mykonos" is even called the Ibiza of Greece.
