New York is the largest city in the United States of America. It is one of the most densely populated areas of our planet. The city is located simultaneously in three states: its northwestern part is in New York of the same name, the southwestern part is in New Jersey, and the eastern part is in Connecticut.
New York, like any other big city, is divided into several administrative districts. Below are the main areas of New York.
Perhaps the most famous is Manhattan. About 1.5 million people live on its territory. The area is located on an island, which is 21.7 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide at its widest point. This area of New York has an area of more than 62 square kilometers. Conventionally, Manhattan is divided into three parts: Uptown (Uptown), Midtown (Midtown), Downtown (Downtown). The borders between them run along 14th and 59th streets. Like many neighborhoods in New York, they are also divided into many smaller neighborhoods that often do not exceed the size of one block.
Manhattan is the heart of New York. It houses almost all the skyscrapers of the city. Here you can find attractions such as Empire StateBuilding, Broadway, Times Square and more. Off the coast of Manhattan is the Statue of Liberty.
Brooklyn is the largest area of the city in terms of the number of residents. It is inhabited by 2.5 million citizens. You can get to this area from Manhattan through the Brooklyn or Manhattan bridges. They are not only roads, but also railways and metro lines. On the territory of Brooklyn there are quarters of the famous Brighton Beach - an area inhabited mainly by immigrants from Russia and the CIS countries. In addition, in Brooklyn you can find a huge number of interesting places and attractions.
Most of Queens is on the same island as Brooklyn. Just over 2 million people live on its territory, most of whom are immigrants from the Middle East, Asia, Africa and southern Europe. Queens has seven huge bedroom communities. At one time they were called "Seven Sisters". Most of the area lives in them.
All parts of New York are on the islands, but one Brokns has a continental location. It is the northernmost region. Today, this area is inhabited by more than 1.2 million people. Its southern part (South Bronx) has long earned a reputation as the most criminal place in the city. More attractive and safer is the North Bronx, home to the famous Yankee Stadium.
Unlike Staten Island, all New York boroughsare very popular among tourists. Staten Island is the quietest county in which life goes on as usual. There is no influx of travelers typical for the city, so here you can see the most ordinary and typical residents of this metropolis.
It is worth noting that New York, with its diverse neighborhoods, is a wonderful city worth visiting at least once in your life.
