Among the numerous stations of the Moscow Metro, there are those that were built relatively recently. And although some of them are not of particular interest from a historical point of view, the inhabitants of the capital still consider them family. Take, for example, the Orekhovo metro station, which is located on the Zamoskvoretskaya line. People living in the Orekhovo-Borisovo area most likely consider it the best. Hearing a familiar name from the announcer in the train car, they realize they will be home in a few minutes.
History of Orekhovo metro station
As part of the section "Kashirskaya" - "Orekhovo" on the eve of the New Year 1985, a metro station was launched. But literally after a short time period, an accident occurred on the segment "Tsaritsyno" - "Orekhovo". Due to the violation of insulation, the tunnel in this section of the train run was flooded. It took more than a month to eliminate the consequences of the accident and restore it. So the passengers were able to step onto the platform of the Orekhovo station again only at the beginning of February 1985.
Of course, each building has its own history of the origin of the name. Where did the name of the Orekhovo metro station come from? A map of the capital will help answerthis question. It turns out that on the territory where the subway is laid today, there used to be a village with the same name, and there was also Orekhovy Boulevard nearby.
General description and specifications
Metro "Orekhovo" is a typical shallow station, its depth is only 9 m. The lobby is decorated in the style of environmental protection. This is immediately evident when looking at the bronze sculptures decorating the station.
The walls and columns along the tracks are lined with white and gray marble. But the central hall is constructed from a monolithic structure. Xenon lamps are located in the center of the ceiling. There are 52 columns in the hall, arranged in 2 rows, the distance between them is 6.5 m.
Behind the station there are cul-de-sacs, which in the past were used for train traffic. And after the Zamoskvoretskaya line was extended, a maintenance station and overnight parking for trains were located here. But during the morning hours, due to the heavy traffic of the station, trains still turn around at this point.
There is only one vestibule at Orekhovo station. And you can exit the metro through the underground passage directly to Bazhenova Street or Shipilovsky Proezd.
Every day the station starts its work at 5:35 and stops at exactly 1:00. Fans of talking on the phone can do it while waiting for the train, as well-known mobile operators MTS, Beeline and Megafon work here.
