How to get from the airport to the center or to the railway station of Zaporozhye? Our article will tell about it. We will advise how to get to the hotels of the city or the resorts of the Sea of Azov in the Zaporozhye region in the least costly way. This hub also serves as a popular departure point for connecting flights. How to travel around the world through Zaporozhye - read below.
History of the airport
The days when the settlement of Mokraya was a village remote from the city are long gone. It was there that they decided to build an air harbor so that the noise of aircraft would not disturb the inhabitants of the regional center. The only airport in the city, Zaporozhye, was solemnly opened in 1965year. At first it was called "Wet" - after the name of the nearest settlement. However, very soon a huge industrial center crept up to the village and swallowed it up. Wet became a microdistrict in the north-eastern part of the city. And the former name was forgotten. At first, the airport in Zaporozhye was considered regional. In 1982, the concrete runway was overhauled. But the only harbor terminal experienced only cosmetic repairs. In 2011, there were plans to construct a building that meets the modern standards of an international airport. But when Dnepropetrovsk was removed from the list of Ukrainian cities hosting the 2012 FIFA World Cup, this idea was forgotten.
Where is Zaporizhia Airport
The address at the city's only air harbor is very simple. The name "Wet" has already been completely forgotten. Now the address sounds like this: the city of Zaporozhye, Donetsk highway. This path really leads to the designated regional center. Since there are no more airports in Zaporozhye, there should be no confusion among taxi drivers. The air harbor is located approximately fifteen kilometers northeast of the city center. Two hundred and fifty meters from the airport there is a railway line linking Kharkiv and Simferopol, and 350 meters from the Zaporozhye-Donetsk motorway. If you get to Startovaya Street, you can go to another busy highway - Kharkiv-Simferopol. The terminal complex includes one passenger terminal. Aircraft serve two lanes. They are capable of receiving IL-76 linersand An-124 "Ruslan" (but with weight restrictions), as well as Tu-154 and lighter vehicles, including helicopters of various types. The passenger traffic of the airport is growing steadily. For comparison: in 2004 it received fifty-eight and a half thousand people, and in 2015 - already one hundred and twenty-eight thousand one hundred travelers. This is due to the increased status of the city as an industrial and historical center. More and more people want to visit Zaporozhye.
Airport: how to get to the city
Fifteen kilometers to the center is still a considerable distance. Of course, taxi drivers are on duty near the terminal building day and night, luring riders. But such a trip can cost a pretty penny. Fortunately, several bus routes connect the city center and the airport. The most popular is No. 3. It connects the air harbor of the city with the 4th Southern microdistrict. This minibus, by the way, makes a stop at the main railway station. It needs to be taken into account by those who go to rest on the Sea of Azov through the Zaporozhye airport. How to get to Mariupol and other resort areas? Minibus taxi number 3 will take you to the railway junction. And there are already a lot of electric trains running. Routes No. 4 and 8 connect the airport with the Yunost Sports Palace. Bus number 35a goes to Olimpiyskaya street.

Reviews
Tourists call Zaporozhye airport small and obsolete. But nevertheless, there is a waiting room and a small duty-free shop where you can buy inexpensive alcohol. Everything at the airport is simple. Due to its small size, getting lost there is simply unrealistic. Passenger check-in starts two hours before for domestic flights and two and a half for international flights. Check-in ends in both cases forty minutes before departure.
