The most beautiful and largest garden in the world is located in the Netherlands. In spring, about seven million flowers bloom, exuding an incredible aroma. In two months, an incredible number of visitors come to admire the wonderful sight.
Spread over an area of 32 hectares, the Keukenhof (park) is located in the town of Lisse. The ancient garden shimmering with bright colors has long become the most popular vacation spot for all tourists.
Country Symbol
It is known that the symbol of Holland is the tulip, and the history of its appearance goes back to the distant past. For the first time, this bright flower is mentioned in Persian chronicles, and it came to the country from the Byzantine Empire. Even in the famous monument of Persian literature "A Thousand and One Nights" you can find a colorful description of the tulip.
In the 17th century, real madness began: an entire estate in Amsterdam was given for an onion. The fact is that an unknown virus struck the plants, and tulips were worth their weight in gold. They were bought for a lot of money, and this business fabulously enriched someone, but there are also those whose fates were broken by "tulip mania".
Former estate
The Keukenhof Flower Park (translated fromDutch - "kitchen park") - the former estate of Countess van Beuren. Several centuries ago, there were impenetrable forests in this place, and only after the vast territory became part of the new owners' possessions, it turned into a garden park.
The countess, who was legendary, had a strong temper. She was in prison, took part in armed battles, where she fought with one of her four husbands, and grew vegetables and herbs for the kitchen on the land. Hence the strange name of the attraction.
History of Creation
The park was first thought about in the middle of the 19th century, but the official date of its creation was 1949. It was then that the mayor of the city organized a flower show so that all breeders-producers demonstrated their achievements in the plant world, and buyers purchased the latest hybrids. It should be noted that the trade was not only tulips, daffodils, crocuses, chrysanthemums, hyacinths and even Japanese sakura were excellent.
A local landmark lavishly adorned with sculptures, the most famous landscape designers worked to create a colorful open-air corner, complementing it with picturesque waterfalls, fountains and ponds.

And the Walk of Fame is a huge success with all tourists, because here each tulip is named after a famous person or character in books and television films.

It does not take place in the park, as the action stretches for almost 40 kilometers. Several dozen mobile platforms are decorated with exquisite floral arrangements, followed by decorated cars.
When is the exhibition?
Every year, the Keukenhof Tulip Park is visited by more than one million visitors admiring the floral ornaments. However, it is worth taking care of a visit to a fantastically beautiful corner in advance, as the flower exhibition takes place only twomonths, from the end of March to May.
