On past trips, when traveling abroad, my husband and I chose the "buffet" for the reason that in this system we were familiar with everything, and it was possible to avoid unpleasant incidents after eating some unusual exotic food.
But who doesn't want variety? And this year we decided to go to Italy instead of Bulgaria, and instead of the buffet, our choice fell on HB food.
When I first saw the abbreviation HB, I couldn't understand its meaning. Under the decoding of Bed & Breakfast, it did not fit in any way. It turned out that HB hotel food is the usual two meals a day in the form of breakfast and dinner. Like any other abbreviation, this term is deciphered. The English version sounds like "half board" (halfboard).
Modern food systems in hotels are quite diverse, for every taste and budget. Each type of this service has its own designation. But let's dwell on the HB type.
HB nutrition has its own version in the form of HB+. A plus should not mislead you: it does not mean an additional meal at all, just alcoholic drinks are included in the menu, as a rule, local production.
So we stayed at the Naples Beach Hotel. Is it because it was our first trip toNaples, whether because the beach was not crowded in the month of April and the weather was just wonderful, but we liked everything, starting with our room on the 9th floor. The view of the bay from here was magnificent. Every evening people gathered there to contemplate the delightful Neapolitan sunset. Plus light silver sand, velvety, cool April sun…
But since my goal was to share exactly gastronomic impressions, I will return to hotel food. Let me be forgiven for being mercantile. Briefly describe the menu. For the first dinner, we tried fried shrimp, which was not new. But pairing them with a delicious tequila-lime-flavoured coconut sauce gave the dish a special twist.
The menu, which includes HB meals, is very diverse. Moreover: if you liked some particular dish, you can order it by phone and reserve it. My husband liked the chicken bruschetta: sliced chicken breast with tomato salsa on thin slices of croutons. In general, it is herbs, subtle spices that give Italian dishes a special delicacy.
Breakfast was not as varied as the lunch menu. I liked the grilled shrimp with peppers. But I was especially surprised by the signature dish from the chef - crab cake, consisting of different types of seafood. To the honor of the restaurant, it should be noted that fish dishes are prepared not from imported fish, but exclusively from the one that is found here, on the coast. And fresh meat productsdelivered from nearby farms.
Special theme: wine. The choice is plentiful. If you order any two main courses, then you are offered complimentary wine, that is, free of charge. This is usually chardonnay, sauvignon and other dry wines.
So if you're going on a trip and don't know whether to choose All Inclusive, Bed & Breakfast or HB, my advice is to go with the latter option.
Although, of course, everyone is en titled to personal preferences
