A very significant object of the urban transport system in the northern part of the capital is the Timiryazevskaya metro station. Let's take a closer look at its features, its connection to other transport communications and various attractions located in its immediate vicinity.
From history
The Timiryazevskaya metro station received its first passengers in the spring of 1991. It entered the operational system as part of the launch site between the Otradnoye and Savelovskaya stations. On the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line, it is located between the stations "Petrovsko-Razumovskaya" and "Dmitrovskaya". The station is not part of the transfer hubs, and therefore the daily flow of passengers passing through its lobbies is quite moderate. It is not planned to lay new metro lines through this area, and Timiryazevskaya is not destined to become an interchange station. There are currently no plans for a radical reconstruction of the station.
Architectural features
In terms of its constructive type, the Timiryazevskaya metro station is a single-vaulted deep-laid station. Usually stations at this depthdesigned and built according to the three-vault scheme. And in this sense "Timiryazevskaya" is unique. In addition, it was erected in a closed way, and this type of construction is extremely rarely used in the construction of single-vaulted underground structures. During the construction of this station, Moscow metro builders worked out construction technologies that were subsequently successfully applied at other facilities. The Timiryazevskaya metro station is one of the deepest in the entire Moscow metro. The main station hall is strongly extended in length. In general, the architectural appearance of the station is rather restrained and does not pretend to be an external effect. Ground structures were not provided for by the project, access to the city is through the system of underground passages on Dmitrovskoye Highway.
Station decoration
The conceptual motif of the design idea in the design of the interior of the station is a dedication to the famous academician Timiryazev. This is displayed both in the very name of the transport object, and in the name of the entire northern direction of this metro line. The interior decoration of the premises is dominated by light-colored marble and granite. The floor is paved with dark granite with lighter marble implication. The track walls are lined with light green marble. The entire range of colors in which the interior is designed contains a reference to the works of the famous Russian scientist, after whom the station is named. The interior of the central hall that exists today was significantly damaged during one of the repairs. StationMetro "Timiryazevskaya" lost for unknown reasons a decorative composition on plant themes, which was originally located in the end part of the hall. A row of columns with fluorescent lamps is located along the central line of the hall. The columns are topped off with stylized metallic flowers.
Moscow: Timiryazevskaya metro in urban infrastructure
The station is located on Dmitrovskoye highway - one of the main highways of the capital, going to the north. This is a very busy place in the business and commercial life of Moscow. In addition to large residential areas, many administrative institutions, trade and service structures are located in this area. In addition to Dmitrovskoye Highway, from the station you can get to Yablochkova Street. For those who are heading out of town, this place is traditionally considered convenient for transferring to the train from the metro. The Timiryazevskaya line here comes close to the railway platform of the same name, located on the Savelovsky direction of the Moscow Railway. Access to the Timiryazevskaya platform is through an underpass.
Change to monorail
But you can transfer from the metro station not only to the commuter train going in the direction of the region from the Savyolovsky railway station. So there were urban planning circumstances that the toponym "Timiryazevskaya" on the territory of Moscow designated as many as three objects of urban transport infrastructure. Exceptmetro station and railway platform, the name "Timiryazevskaya" is also the terminal station of the Moscow monorail transport system. It is located right next to the railway line. This kind of transport communication in Moscow so far exists in one copy, and nothing is known yet about whether this system will somehow develop in the future. There are reasonable doubts about its technical and economic feasibility. At present, the monorail line is completely unprofitable. Its operation not only does not pay for itself, but also requires constant investment of significant financial resources to maintain the already built infrastructure in working order.
