Millennium Park was built for a significant date - the millennium of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. It was opened in 2002.
Millennium Park (Kazan)
The address of this favorite walking place among the residents of the city is Spartakovskaya Street, building 1. Both children and adults come here. The Millennium Park of Kazan is located on the territory bounded by Aidimov, Ostrovsky, Salimzhanov streets, and from the north - by the shore of Lake Kaban. The Tatenergo building adjoins the complex from the west.
The construction of a huge complex with an area of five and a half hectares was completed in the shortest possible time. The old buildings were demolished, and a huge number of lindens, birches, oaks, mountain ash, and pines were planted in their place. The finishing touches were even carried out on the very day of its opening.
Almost immediately, the Millennium Park fell in love with the townspeople. In warm weather, companies of students are conveniently placed on its lawns, preparing for exams, parents with children and elderly people are walking along the alleys. Winter herea Christmas tree is set up, and festive lights and garlands are hung on the trees. The Millennium Park of Kazan is completely pedestrian. All its paths are covered with paving stones.
History of Creation
Once upon a time in this place of the park, the streets of Poperechno-Georgievskaya (current Aydinova) and Uzenkaya (Ostrovsky) intersected. The first connected Georgievskaya Square with Myasnitskaya Square right at the shore of Lake Nizhny Kaban. Often the level in the reservoir rose and the whole area was flooded.
Heads of many states were invited to its opening and planted blue Christmas trees on the main alley.
Description
It was decided to enclose the territory with a forged fence, in the patterns of which national motifs are visible. In total, there are eight gates, the main of which are decorated with figures of zilants - snakes with wings, which, according to mythology, are the symbols of Kazan.
Alleys, stretching from all the gates of the park, converge in its center, forming a crossroads. This idea is very symbolic, since the capital of Tatarstan is located at the crossroads of two parts of the world - Europe and Asia.
At the crossroads on an elevated platform there is a fountain made in the shape of a cauldron. In addition to it, here you can look at the monument to the famous Bulgarian poetKul Gali, who wrote the poem "The Tale of Yusuf". It is set in the middle of the alley that leads to the southeast gate. An outstanding representative of medieval literature of the Volga-Bulgar period died during the Mongol invasion in the thirteenth century. The authors of the monument are Balashov, Minulina and Nurgaleeva. The opening of the monument was timed to coincide with the opening date of the complex - August 2005.
Kazan's Millennium Park is divided into several functional zones. In addition to the Central, called "Crossroads" and symbolizing the role of the capital of Tatarstan as a meeting place between East and West, four more are provided. Holidays are periodically held on the main square located in the Millennium. According to the authors, in the future the Millennium Park of Kazan will also consist of several gardens, which were given the original names: "Origin", "Maidan", "East", "Garden of Sorrow" and "Garden of Love".
Zilates and fountain
Kazan is a city with many attractions. This is an ancient, beautiful city. And for some time now, the Millennium Park can be attributed to their number. Kazan has been around for many years, but it is this complex that is destined to symbolize the long path of the city's development. Therefore, both the fountain and the zilant snakes, which appear in the legends about its foundation and support the cauldron, have become the place where the newlyweds come on their wedding day. This is where they throw coins for luck. The width of the fountain is thirty-six meters. Eight zilants are installed along the perimeter. At the momentconstruction of the park, the cost of each sculpture was about three hundred thousand rubles.
There is a legend that explains both the name of the capital of Tatarstan and the choice of location for its founding. According to it, the Bulgars, who were choosing a place for the construction of the future city, were ordered by the sorcerers to build a settlement exactly where a cauldron of water, dug into the ground, would boil without fire. After long searches and wanderings, such a unique site was discovered near Kaban Lake. Hence the name of the city - Kazan. It is this ancient legend that is symbolized by the Kazan fountain, installed in the center of the Millennium Park.
This is interesting
Noisy wedding corteges come here not only on weekends, but also on weekdays. Literally from the first months of the appearance of the park on the city map, an interesting tradition has been established, according to which the newlyweds together throw coins into the fountain-cauldron, while saying their wishes.
It must be said that the Zilant figures are periodically attacked by vandals. There was even a case when several sculptures were destroyed at once, which, however, were immediately restored.
