Novosibirsk is a large industrial, commercial and scientific center of Russia, the third largest city in the country. And, of course, there are many transport arteries, the key points of which are always Novosibirsk railway stations
It is sometimes difficult for a visitor to understand all the transport connections of the city, so it is better to study the location and purpose of the city's stations in advance.
Novosibirsk Main Station
The main station of Novosibirsk, of course, the Main. This is the name of the station from which all trains and electric trains of the city depart. Here, in the 19th century, the construction of a local segment of the Trans-Siberian Railway began. A wooden station building with a post office, waiting rooms and a canteen was built at the newly opened Ob station. However, the flow of traffic at this station grew at such a rapid pace that soon both the station and the city received the name Novonikolaevsk, which was changed to Novosibirsk in 1926. So the modern station can be safely considered the starting point of the metropolis.
It is a beautiful majestic building with a triumphal arch, pilasters and a large attic. The walls and floor of the main lobby are lined with natural granite and marble, and the structure of almost 3,000 square meters can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers.
It is also important for visitors that right under the station square there is a metro station “Ploshad im. Garin-Mikhailovsky . It allows you to move around the entire metropolis, as well as get to the left bank of the city called Novosibirsk.
The train station and Tolmachevo airport connect two city bus routes - 111 and 312. Look for the stop on the opposite side of the square from the station.
Other railway stations in Novosibirsk
In addition to the station "Novosibirsk Glavny", there are three more large railway junctions in the city, called stations. This is:
- “Novosibirsk South”, located in the Oktyabrsky district;
- "Novosibirsk West", located in the Leninsky district;
- “Novosibirsk Vostochny”, located in the Kalininsky district.
However, these stations in Novosibirsk are more interesting for city dwellers, as commuter trains and freight trains stop there.
Bus station
This is a station that can be reached by many intercity bus routes. Flights depart every hour from the bus station both throughout Siberia and to nearby cities in neighboring Kazakhstan.
Locatedthe bus station at the very beginning of Krasny Prospekt, however, despite the importance of this transport hub and its central location, the condition of the building leaves much to be desired. It has been under reconstruction for several years, but so far all that has been done for passengers is more comfortable boarding platforms.
There are several ways to get to the bus station from the city's main railway station.
Using a city bus or fixed-route taxi, off-peak travel takes only 20 minutes. This is the most convenient way, but do not choose it in case of high traffic.
By metro to the station “Rechnoy Vokzal”, there is only one stop by bus. This method takes a little longer, but is suitable if there are traffic jams in the city.
The fastest way, but the most unpopular one, is to come to the Novosibirsk Glavny railway station, take a commuter train and drive just one station to the Center or Right Ob platforms. They are located directly opposite the entrance to the bus station building.
Tolmachevo International Airport can be reached from the bus station by bus number 111.
River Station
He is rarely mentioned when listing the train stations of Novosibirsk. The river is still an important transport hub and one of the attractions of the city.
This is where the oldest bridge originates, linking the two banks of Novosibirsk. By the way, there is also an unusual monument to the first bridge - its span, left in memory of the past. The river station itself is not so remarkable, but the embankment is good- it is long and wide, conducive to long walks and to riding along the Ob on roller skates or a bicycle. There is also an amusement park and a large modern Ferris wheel. And in winter, the River Station adorns a large ice town.
As for the main purpose of the station, during the navigation season, motor ships and ferries run here to nearby villages and islands. Naturally, you can also take a pleasant river trip on a tourist boat or buy a tour of the Ob.
