Building a park

Smirnov planted 1080 linden trees on the nearby territory. This was the beginning of the development of the famous park.

At first, the resting place was called Alexander Boulevard, but soon it was named City. Its modernthis place got its name in 1876.

Park "Lipki" (Saratov) in those days was a rather dusty place. Linden trees did not want to be accepted. It was decided to create a greenhouse here. They began to grow seedlings of southern plants in it for storage in the winter. In the summer it was planted on lawns. The presented park is also famous for this feature.

Further development of the park

Park "Lipki" (Saratov) gradually developed, its trees gained strength, grew up. In the old days, an orchestra played here. A special playground was even built for him. This music stage was eventually removed.

In 1891, about 500 more trees and various shrubs were added to the park's collection. This served to increase the diversity of representatives of the plant world.

In 1908, a forged fence was created by the workers of the Alexander vocational school. It was made in accordance with the sketches of the artist S. Chekhonin. This fence has survived to our times. It surrounds the park, giving a special mood, a touch of antiquity to this place. Architectural objects that do not exist now

Park "Lipki" (Radishchev St.) has now lost several of its objects and monuments. They were destroyed by time and human activity. First of all, it should be noted the actual cathedral of A. Nevsky. During the Great Patriotic War the cathedral collapsed completely. By 1945, only empty ruins could be seen in its place. They were cleared and the Dynamo stadium was built here. It functions to this day.

Garden today

Today the park of culture and recreation "Lipki" occupies an area of about 4.7 hectares. It fits very harmoniously into the central part of the city. Against the background of green tree crowns, the monument to N. G. Chernyshevsky looks great.

The layout of the garden is very simple and unpretentious. This is one of the advantages of the presented place. Today, 16 species of shrubs and 34 species of trees grow in the park. It was decided to install the fish, which once adorned the gate of the ancient gate, in a restored form on one of the fountains.
