History

The first flight was made in 2013 and was technical. It was dedicated to the openingoil and gas condensate field of the same name, gigantic in scale, known since 1971 and named after Vadim Bovanenkov, a Soviet geologist.

Earlier, people got here on all-terrain vehicles from Salekhard. Before the opening of the airfield, a helipad was equipped, and shift workers were delivered from Nadym by helicopters.

Construction was carried out in three stages. First, as mentioned above, they built a heliport, then a winter runway, and then a concrete runway. Difficult weather conditions were not conducive to rapid construction.

Climate

Bovanenkovo Airport is located in the subarctic tundra zone, and, accordingly, the weather here is very difficult.
