Ladoga Bridge is an example of the rational use of both local conditions and the most appropriate building technologies. Built in the second half of the 70s of the last century, it became the embodiment of the then dominant socialist minimalism and economical distribution of resources.
Ladoga Bridge is located a few dozen kilometers from St. Petersburg, in a very strategically important area. It is here that the Neva flows out of Lake Ladoga, in addition, this structure is an important point on the route from the Northern capital to Murmansk. The need for this bridge structure also follows from the fact that the famous Oreshek fortress is located nearby, which can be reached from the city only by overcoming this structure.
The Ladoga bridge was built at one time, based on purely economic goals, so you should not look for any artistic value in it. This is a powerful and reliable reinforced concrete structure, in which there are nine spans, one of them is adjustable. The importance of this structure is due to the fact that there are simply no other similar objects before St. Petersburg itself.
Tourists visit the Ladoga Bridge most often due to the fact that in its immediate vicinity there is a diorama museum that tells about the heroic moments of breaking through the Leningrad blockade. It is through this building that you can get from the city to such famous memorial complexes as Nevsky Piglet, Maryino, Sinyavino Heights, where you can get to know the heroic pages of seventy years ago in more detail.
In the immediate vicinity of the place where the Ladoga bridge is located, fierce battles with the Nazi invaders took place in the formidable 1940s. Evidence of this is the T-34 tank, which has been preserved since those times, as well as the appearance of a part of the structure, made in the form of a powerful pillbox. Numerous memorial plaques with the names of fallen soldiers and officers are also located here.
Today, this structure also plays an important role in terms of passing transport ships going from St. Petersburg to Lake Ladoga and back. In this regard, the Ladoga bridge laying schedule is very important, which is adopted at the beginning of the shipping season and which the commanders of all watercraft must adhere to. Naturally, all these dates are coordinated with the work of St. Petersburg bridges.
At the same time, the Ladoga Bridge, the wiring-2013 of which was carried out at 10 and 15 hours, respectively, may be additionally bred to please the owners of vehicles, however, all such requirements must be reported to its management in advance. The same applies to fishing boats fishing at the exit of the Neva from Lake Ladoga.
The last reconstruction of this bridge was made almost ten years ago on the eve of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Great Victory. At present, this facility is coping well with the load falling on it to connect the most important districts of the Leningrad Region.
