The name comes from the settlement, which was located near the Savelovsky railway line. The surrounding estates belonged to Count Sheremetyev until 1917.
In 1953, the first runway was commissioned, which was then repeatedly repaired. Today it is 60 meters wide and 3550 meters long. The second runway was completed in 1976. After the reconstruction in 2008, its width was 60 meters, and its length was 3700. The airport was able to receive such powerful liners as the Dream liner B-787 and Airbus-380.
In 1959, Khrushchev, returning from London, was delighted with the beauty of Heathrow. Landing at the new Air Force airport, the head started talking about the need to create a similar airport on this site. This was taken as a decree. Already in 1957, Sheremetyevo Airport was organized here. In August fromLeningrad, the TU-134 passenger aircraft has already been accepted. In 1960, the aerocomplex received the status of an international one. In the 70s, about a million passengers were served here annually. The airport was considered the largest in the country. In 1985, this figure had already risen to 3.5 million people a year. The complex was constantly updated, new terminals were built.
At the beginning of the 21st century, it was decided to connect the Belarusian railway station with the airport, which provided greater capacity. In 2008, Aeroexpress was launched from Savelovsky Station, which made it possible to get to the airport in just 35 minutes. Sheremetyevo is now planning to build a third VZP, as a result of which the annual passenger flow will increase to 64 million people a year.
Domodedovo
Listing the Moscow airports, it is worth noting one of the largest - the Domodedovo airport terminal. It is included in the top 20 world in terms of congestion. In terms of passenger traffic in Russia, it is in the forefront. Works in 240 directions with 80 companies. Geographically located in the southeast, 45 km from the capital and 22 km from the Moscow Ring Road. The official birthday of the airport is considered to be the day of completion of its construction - April 7, 1962. Since 1963, cargo, mail, training flights have been made from here.
The first passenger flight was made in 1964 to Sverdlovsk. In 1966, a regular passenger service was established. Domodedovo Airport received international status in 1992. Vnukovo

Its advantage is that it is located 205 meters above sea level. This gives an advantage when landing in bad weather. With fog and poor visibility, this terminal is in a winning position. Vnukovo has the status of an international airport and performs both cargo and passenger air transportation.
The airport has been operating since the Second World War, the main forces of Moscow aviation were based here. After the war, in 1945, the main civilian airport was moved here. From 1976 to 1980, passenger traffic amounted to 30 million people. Already in 2001, the airport received international status.
How to get there
