Silver Ponds

An urban-type settlement or worker in the Moscow region with a population of just over 9,000. It is believed that at the end of the first millennium, the territory under the modern Serebryany Ponds was inhabited by the Vyatichi, this opinion is confirmed by archaeological excavations. While there was fragmentation in Russia, the lands were transferred from Chernigov to the Ryazan principality. Due to frequent raids, the village was always small.

But already at the beginning of the last century there were 3 schools in the village, and in 1912 even a higher primary school was opened. By 1941, there were about 30 thousand inhabitants in the village. In 1961the settlement receives the status of a workers' settlement. And in 2015, Silver Ponds became subordinate to the regional authorities, an urban district was formed.

The settlement is located 160 km from the capital of the Russian Federation (along the Kashirskoye highway). The Ozherelye-Pavelets railway line also runs here.

Today, the construction of the residential complex "Orchid" is underway in the village. This is a monolithic 5-storey building with 3 sections. Today, 10,717 people live here. The settlement was founded in 1901 in connection with the construction of the railway line of the Moscow-Vindava direction. During the Second World War, the village was occupied by the Germans (from 1941 to 1942).

Currently, the House of Culture, a secondary school, a music school, and a local history museum function here. The village is gasified, electric trains run here. A brick factory and an electric lamp factory are operating, and mineral table water is being produced.
