October District

Kirovskiy district of Novosibirsk
The territory of the district is 52 square kilometers, the location is on the left bank of the Ob River. The population hovers around 12 percent of the city's total population.
Until 1930, the district was called Bugrinsky, after it was renamed Zaobsky. Only in 1934, after the assassination of S. M. Kirov, the district received its real name, which has survived to this day, Kirovsky. In 1970, another district of Novosibirsk, Leninsky, was formed from this part of the city.
It is noteworthy that this territorial unit is the poorest in terms of living standards and wages, although the largest regional clinical hospital of Novosibirsk, an Olympic reserve school, many industrial complexes and enterprises are located within the Kirovsky district. It is the Kirovsky district that is considered the center of production, industry and the economy as a whole.
Leninsky district of the city
The third largest and the first in terms of population district of the city. The territory of the district is located on the left bank of the Ob River, and the area is almost 71 square kilometers.
The construction of the district began in the 1930s, with the beginning of the first five-year plans. But only in 1970, the part of the city located on the left side of the Ob River was divided into two districts: Kirovsky and Leninsky.
Many important facilities of the city are located in the administrative unit: the regional oncological dispensary,Novosibirsk State Technical University and the regional house of mercy. It was in the Leninsky district that a subway section first appeared, and the first metro station was opened, which is located on the left bank - Studencheskaya.
Sights of the main areas of the city
Novosibirsk districts are not famous for a large number of attractions, but there are always exceptions to the rule. For example, the Kirovsky district is considered one of the most attractive areas of the city.
Popular and interesting place in the city is Bugrinskaya Grove Cultural Park. It is located in an area where there are sandy beaches and various attractions. In winter, a snowboard park is open, as well as two ski slopes with lifts. Bugrinskaya Grove has become a place of recreation and entertainment not only for local residents, but also for tourists visiting Novosibirsk.
It will be interesting for fans of extreme sports to go to the ROSTO motordrome. In 1975, the "Bayonets" stele was erected in the Kirovsky district, and in 1985, the Zvezda Memorial complex was built on Marx Square. Both of these structures have been included in the list of heritage sites of local importance since 2008.
Leninsky district is considered to be the cultural center of the city. It is here that there are two palaces of culture, twelve libraries, four houses of culture, a drama theater and much more.
In addition to culture, sports are actively popularized in the Leninsky district. There are swimming pools, numerous hockey rinks, ski bases, shootingshooting galleries and hippodrome.
In 1967, the Monument of Glory was opened, the author of which is a well-known artist not only of the city, but also of the interregional level - Chernobrovtsev. The memorial occupies a vast territory of two hectares and consists of a statue of a mother waiting for her sons from the war, the Eternal Flame and seven pylons, displaying individual stages of the Great Patriotic War.
Thus, despite the fact that Novosibirsk is a young city, the district units of the settlement are actively developing, they have everything for a full life and recreation.
