Lake Shlino, Tver region: recreation and fishing

Lake Shlino is famous for its sites belonging to the Neolithic period. The remains of long mounds were also found here, in which the Slavs lived during the Great Migration of Nations in the 5th century AD. Today the lake is a water protection zone, which preserves numerous springs and rare plants for the Tver region.

About the lake

In the center of the Valdai Upland, at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, there is Lake Shlino. In outline, it resembles an oval, elongated to the south. The area of \u200b\u200bthe reservoir is 34 square kilometers, and the depth exceeds 4 meters. The location of the lake is interesting: the upper third (from the village of Kamenka to the confluence of the Troshkovsky stream into it) belongs to the Novgorod region, Valdai district. The lower part of the lake - Tver region, Firovsky district. The structure of the lake is complex due to the abundance of backwaters and bays, satellite lakes and islands of various sizes. There are villages on the southern coast of the reservoir, but the southwestern part is wild, inaccessible and has not yet been studied.

Sandy beaches on Lake Shlino -a rarity: if spring and summer are rainy, then the rising water level will not allow you to enjoy your vacation on the beach. The bottom of the lake is clean, sandy, in places there are pebbles. The water is clear and cool.

River Shlina

The Shlina River, famous for kayaking, is born from Lake Shlino. The length of the river is 112 kilometers and is divided into 4 sections, strikingly different from each other.

The first section is rich in stones of different sizes and types, it has many sharp turns. There are no thresholds, but sharp stones are scary

Second segment. For a long time the riverbed meanders along the valley, and then passes into the lake, in some places overgrown with grass. If you go even further, you can see how the lake spills into a full-fledged reservoir, in which there are many water lilies. After the lake, there is a sharp overgrowth of the riverbed and at a low water level, passage through this area is difficult

• Third section. Here the riverbed behaves quite unexpectedly: it bends at strange angles, makes unthinkable turns. And in moments it seems as if the river is crossing itself.
• The fourth one is the last one. The beauty of the river is left behind. Monotonous banks began, overgrown with willows. Parking spaces are getting smaller.

Rest on Lake Shlino: private sector

In the villages located on the south coast, the "natives" are happy to rent out houses for vacationers during the season. The untouched ecology on Lake Shlino surpasses mostpopular places.

Lake Shlino: fishing and hunting

Coming to Shlino in spring, vacationers rejoice at the first spring mushrooms - morels, and in autumn they are already solid white mushrooms. There are a lot of birds, so lovers of game birds will be interested. Great expanse for hunters and fishermen: wild boar, roe deer, elk, bear are found in the forest. There are different types of fish in the lake. And if you go down to the small streams that flow into the lake in abundance, and find deep pools, you will catch river trout or a rare fish - grayling.

Besides hunting or fishing, tourists can choose a water tour from the recreation center "Uzmen". The program to choose from: in one, two days or for any period of time at the request of the guests. The program includes rafting on the river Schline, entertainment and sports activities, delicious food cooked on a fire.

Movement along the route is equally safe for group rafting or for families with children. The places through which the group sails are picturesque and beautiful, uninhabited at times. Descent along the river is carried out on rafs and expedition boats with a capacity of 2, 6 and 8 seats. The maximum number of people in a group is 20.

Duration of river rafting

• Rafting in one day. The route starts from Lake Shlino and ends at Lake Glybi. The length is 30 km and takes one light day.
• Rafting for 2 days. The route starts from Lake Shlino and ends in the village of Komsomolsky. A distance of 50 km takes two daylight hours. Recreation centers on Lake Shlino and on the river Shlingraciously provide accommodation for weary travelers.

Those who have no hiking experience should not be afraid of the route - there are no difficult obstacles on it. The atmosphere during the descent is calm, the mood is cheerful and light.

Itinerary program and prices

Before launching, the instructors conduct a briefing, and then the rafting begins directly. Instructors, based on the fatigue of tourists, make the first h alt, where the group has breakfast or drinks tea, and rests. They're on the road again. At the second, already equipped h alt, travelers get a full meal cooked on a fire. They rest, swim, some go on a short fishing trip if they wish. Then the group starts sailing again to get off at the third and last h alt, where everyone rests and bathes. They swim the last section of the path to the parking lot on Lake Glybi. For an overnight stay, they offer to go to a recreation center or to an island, to a tent camp. This is a program for one day water tour.

Those who chose the program for two days, the next day in the morning go to breakfast, then continue along the route with stops in prepared places.

The instructor has the right to prevent guests in a state of intoxication from going down the river.

Prices for rafting on the river are democratic: for a company of three people on a one-day tour, you need to pay 3 thousand rubles each, for 4 people - 2 thousand rubles. For a group of more than five people, the descent will cost 1,500 thousand rubles each. Participation of children under 12 years old is paid for 1 thousand rubles.

Seating yards and camp sites on Lake Shlino

Not far from the village of Krasilovo there is a hotel on Lake Shlino. It belongs to the military hunting society, barracks type and accommodates up to 50 guests. The hotel rents motor or row boats for fishing on the lake. In this place, Lake Shlino is famous for its deep-seated pikes. Experienced anglers advise you to bring an echo sounder with you, although the old-timers say that no one leaves the lake without a catch. In addition to pike, they catch carp, roach, perch, ruff, bream, rudd and pike perch.

And what walks here! Mixed deep green forests, forest paths with animal paw prints, anthills. The air is so clean that you want to breathe in for the future.

Another recreation center - "Uzmen", Firovsky district, Tver region. But the location of the base is far from Lake Shlino, so vacationers are offered outbound fishing. Tourists stay mainly with local residents or on their own in tents - "savages".

Legends of the lake

On the western side of the lake, 200 meters from the shore, a small lake with black water and moss-covered shores spilled into the pines. The locals know that the forest monster lives there. No one has ever looked at it well, but everyone knows that it lives there.

There is a lake in a beautiful place with a lot of blueberries, so both locals and guests come here. But the main thing is that travelers who sailed here do notmust make noise! The monster does not like loud screams, running around. You should not swim in the lake, and even more so throw stones and garbage into it. Of course, a monster will not jump out of the lake and drag unlucky tourists into the depths of Lake Shlino. But on the way back to the house, the weather will change: a squally wind with rain will fly in, capable of turning into a storm. This is an angry monster whose peace has been disturbed.

Or the spirit of a black fisherman lives on the island of Blasphemousness, looking out from Lake Shlino. He also has a hut. But no one knows who built it and lived there. On dark stormy nights, the spirit of a black fisherman appears to help those who are caught on the water by bad weather. Protects travelers, helping the lost to swim to their shore, or hospitably offers to find shelter in his hut.

As eyewitnesses say, while relaxing on Lake Shlino, you can’t sing all the songs in a row. Under the strictest ban compositions about rain. It is worth singing, as the weather deteriorates after a while. And if suddenly someone is drawn to perform a series of “wet” songs, then it will become dreary at all: a long streak of rains is provided. True, inveterate tourists have learned to bypass this sign - it is possible to sing a song while in a skiff on the water, and by order of rowers. But it's better not to abuse it, otherwise everything is possible.

Not far from Lake Shlino, in a forest in a swamp, at times a white haze appears. The haze gradually takes on the shape of a female figure. On foggy evenings, she travels along the paths without touching the ground. Rumor has it that sometimes comes close to the campstourists, looking sadly from the dark forest at the living…

Who is she? How did you end up in the swamp? Why is it locked here: an unhappy love that forever ruined an immortal soul, or a longing of a different kind? Beginners are afraid at first, but gradually get used to it. Aborigines claim that this is the spirit of the Eagle, keeping the peace and silence of this place.

People do not come to Lake Shlino by chance, because there are no paved roads and railways nearby. This is a conscious choice. And, having arrived here once, you will return again, enchanted by the silence and beauty of the lake.
