Tyumen is the capital of Siberia, one of the largest cities in Russia. In recent years, there has been an active change in the appearance of the city: old buildings are being restored, new objects are appearing, ideas are being developed to improve the infrastructure. One of these facilities was the Sports Palace. Tyumen cannot boast of a large number of such stadiums. After a global restoration, it became known as the "Sports Training Center". It is the city's first ice arena and home to the Rubin hockey team. This is one of the most popular places of leisure for residents of the city.
Palace of Sports (Tyumen) yesterday and today
The stadium was built in 1971 and was then called "Spartak". A little more than ten years later, the reconstruction of the building began, which was completed only in 1988. These changes have transformed the stadium into a full-scale sports facility, making it suitable for multi-sport competitions.
The Tyumen Sports Palace can rightly be considered assembled by the forces of the whole world. Its designs and components were delivered from all over the then USSR. An interesting fact: the roof coverings are made ofthe same material used in aircraft construction.
Today the Palace of Sports (Tyumen) is the city's first ice arena and the home arena for the Rubin hockey team. Comfortable stands can accommodate a large number of spectators, thanks to the reconstruction, an additional 200 seats have appeared. There was another memorable page in the history of the building: at the beginning of the 2000s, the national judo championship was held here.
