Losinoostrovskaya station in Moscow (Yaroslavl direction) was opened in 1902. It includes one main and two intermediate platforms. One of them is intended for high-speed electric trains following from the capital to Mytishchi, Bolshevo and Pushkino. This station owes its name to the Losiny Ostrov National Park. Railcar exchange with the District Station has been its main focus for over 100 years.

Development history

Losinoostrovskaya station at the end of the 19th century was a small suburban platform. It operated a wooden station, similar to a country house. It had elaborate canopies along the edges. This station building was used until 1970, and some old buildings are still located on the territory of the station.

With the beginning of the operation of Losinoostrovskaya station, a workers' settlement began to grow in this territory. In 1925 it became a city, since 1939 it became known as Babushkin. The city got its name in honor of the famous polar pilot, who was born in these places. In 1960, Babushkin became one of the territories of Moscow.

When the circumferential railway was builtcapital, Losinoostrovskaya began to be the main link connecting Okruzhnaya and Severnaya stations along certain connecting branches. The volume of her work has increased significantly. Currently, Losinoostrovskaya station handles about 13,000 passengers daily.

In the old days, this station served as the final destination of certain electric trains. Until 1987, there was a branch connecting this freight station with Beskudnikovo.

Early in the morning there was a stunning explosion. An echelon exploded, in which servicemen were sent to the front. Until now, a memorial plaque located in the station lobby reminds of this horrific event.
