Lake Shira is a unique body of water with healing properties. It is located in the Shirinsky district of Khakassia. Not far from it is the village of Zhemchuzhny. Shira is a holiday destination from all over the country.
General information
The size of Lake Shira is very impressive, its water surface stretches for 9.5 kilometers in length, and the width of this majestic creation of nature is 5 kilometers. The reservoir is located in the steppe area, on the horizon you can see small hills. There are others adjacent to Lake Shira: Itkul, Bele, Dzhirim, Utichye, Tus. Not far from here there are caves of Malaya Syya, which attract speleologists, such as Pandora's Box and the Tuimsky failure, chosen by extreme people.
This is a s alt lake, on the coast of which there is a village with the beautiful name Zhemchuzhny. Shira is a resort where there are many camp sites and sanatoriums for children. The Khakassky Reserve begins in the southeast of the lake basin. In this section, the reserve captures part of the lake and the river with the mysterious name Son.
Opening of the lake
The famous explorer Pallas mentioned this lake in the scientific literature. The discovery of the medicinal properties of this reservoir is connectedwith gold miner Z. M. Tsibulsky. When he shot his dog by mistake while hunting, his body was left on the sand by the lapping waters of the lake. Great was his surprise when the animal returned home on its own.
It has been suggested that the dog entered the water and its wounds began to heal. After this incident, they began to say that the lake cures all diseases. Soon Cybulsky rented the lake in the second half of the 19th century for 25 years, in the summer he stayed with his family. The healing properties and geological structure were studied by the doctor P. M. Popov and I. G. Savenkov. At the end of the 19th century, Lake Shira was taken over by the state, officials, nobles, merchants, other noble people and we althy peasants came here for treatment.
Healing Research
From the second half of the 19th century, the healing properties of Lake Shira were studied by doctors, pharmacists and professors from Tomsk universities. It was concluded that due to its composition and therapeutic effect, the water is close to the mineral waters of the Caucasus.
Over time, the resort developed, before the revolution, more than 1000 people performed wellness procedures here in the summer. A bathroom building was built, where there were 12 baths with water supply and heating. There was also a hospital, baths and guest houses. The well-known artist V. I. Surikov also fell in love with this resort. His watercolor works depict the shores and expanses of Lake Shira.
After 1917, the resort was already of national importance. They were in charge of a doctor, they constantly came for the summer periodprofessors and associate professors from Tomsk universities. Even in the pre-war years, the resort gained popularity and fame.
Lake vacation
People from different parts of the country come to the village of Zhemchuzhny to rest and be treated. In Lake Shira, not only water has healing properties, but also mud, which is taken from the bottom of the reservoir. The beaches on the banks are quite suitable for swimming and sunbathing. The water in the lake is quite warm in summer - from 24 degrees to 26.
The air of the steppes is clean and transparent, there are no enterprises nearby. You can get a job at a camp site or rent a house, an apartment in the village of Zhemchuzhny. Shira is a few kilometers away. There is a cafe here, souvenirs are sold, various attractions work.
How to get there
Zhemchuzhny settlement, Shira are located in Khakassia. The resort can be reached by road from different cities: Abakan, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo. You can get here both by bus and by train. A train from Moscow to Abakan stops at the Shira railway station.
