When it comes to a city-state, it seems difficult to distinguish between its regions. Since February 2007, Monte Carlo has been considered the administrative territory and center of the commune of the same name in the Principality of Monaco. This region of the country is located on the Mediterranean rocky coast, eighteen kilometers from Nice airport.
Monte Carlo is Europe's most expensive and sophisticated fashionable tourist destination. He gained worldwide fame thanks to the magnificent beaches, casinos and rallies. Here is the track of the world famous race "Formula 1" Monaco Grand Prix. Among other things, Monte Carlo (reviews from travelers confirm this) is a place where aristocrats gather, so holidays here are expensive and fashionable.
This area owes its appearance to King Charles III, who established a casino in the place of the present commune in 1865 - the prince thus tried to save himself from impending bankruptcy. To his delight, the casino began to bring fabulous profits, and already in 1870, Charles the Third did notonly improved his financial condition, but even abolished taxes for all residents of the state. The casino was named after its creator - "Monte Carlo". Hotels and luxurious restaurants still surround the gambling house. The interior decoration delights with rich halls, excellent art canvases, exquisite frescoes, and unique sculptures. The district is home to well-known brand stores – it’s not for nothing that this area is called the “golden mile.”
Representatives of high society relax in Monte Carlo in private villas and beaches, but there is also the only public beach in Monaco - Larvotto. The favorable climate makes it possible to bask in the sun all year round, but for tourists, the period from May to October is considered the best time to relax.
Spend time in Monte Carlo not only on the beach or in the casino - there are also interesting sights to see. If possible, be sure to visit the Japanese Garden and the Church of St. Charles, built in 1883. Those who admire world art can enjoy ballet and theatrical performances, symphony and chamber music concerts, opera performances, antiques exhibitions, circus festivals and other cultural events regularly held here. The January rally in Monte Carlo and the May stage of the Monaco Grand Prix also attract tourists. And in July-August, at the height of the tourist season, this part of the country is illuminated by hundreds of lights - this is how the participants of the fireworks festival demonstrate their programs.
Monte Carlo is also one of the world's best mud and thermal clinics. Unique recreational factors make it possible to improve the he alth of vacationers: water saturated with useful compounds, sea air, an abundance of sunny days, as well as developed infrastructure. Active recreation is also provided here. Golf courses, tennis courts, squash courts and archery are at the disposal of eminent guests.
