In order to get to an amazing and interesting place, it is not at all necessary to go far and spend a lot of time on the road. Unusual sights can be found in the near suburbs. One of these amazing places is the Abramtsevo estate. What is interesting about this complex, and how to get to it?
A bit of history
The first references in historical documents about the estate date back to the middle of the sixteenth century. At that time, the lands belonged to Mr. Volynsky, and the estate was called Abramov. However, there is almost no information about the fate of the estate in the following centuries, and it begins its modern history only in the eighteenth century. The famous landowner Fyodor Golovin was seriously engaged in land improvement, and it was he who created the complex, known today as the Abramtsevo estate. It is noteworthy that the estate brought little profit, but the stunning nature and favorable location attracted successive owners to this place. The well-known writer Aksakov also had a chance to live in it, and then the Mamontov family became the owners of the estate. Newthe owners carried out extensive renovations and erected several new buildings.
From antiquity to our days
What is the Abramtsevo estate today, what type of sights can be seen here? The building of the estate itself is not of great interest - it is a standard house of a small landowner of that time. It was not possible to save the ceramic factory built by Mamontov. But any visitor can see with his own eyes the unique collection of the museum, which includes more than 28 thousand exhibits. Here you can see authentic pieces of furniture and household utensils from different periods, works of art and samples of folk crafts. The second-hand book collection, which includes not only rare books, but also manuscripts, is also striking. The Abramtsevo estate has a chic park and a pond. On the territory of the estate there are also some outbuildings, the Church of the Savior, Polenov's dacha.
