Ostankino Park used to be called TsPKiO im. F. E. Dzerzhinsky. After another renaming of all squares, streets, squares, plants and factories, the park was given a more fair name, as it is the historical heir to the Ostankino estate, known since the 16th century.
Toponymy
It is impossible to trace the origin of the name. Usually, the settlements were given the names of the owners or the church built in them, but Ostankin or Ostashkov was owned by the princes Cherkassky and Sheremetyev, and the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, still famous to this day, was erected later. It remains only to think, if there is a desire, whether this is the name of the first unknown owner, or the "remainder" of the dowry of some bride, or someone's revered remains gave the name to the village. One way or another, but in the boundary book of the Moscow district for the first time in 1558 there was a mention of the village of Ostashkovo. Often the village passed from hand to hand, and each owner completed something - either a pond or a garden. This is how the famous Ostankino Park began to emerge.
Founder of the estate
The heyday of this village near Moscow is associated with the grandson of the famous field marshalB. P. Sheremetyev, who was the first in Russia to be awarded the title of count. His son, having married a representative of the Cherkassky family (the dowry included Ostankino), laid the foundations of a legendary fortune - the Sheremetyevs were richer than Catherine II. The grandson of the "chick of Petrov's nest", Nikolai Petrovich Sheremetyev, remained in the history of Russia as a philanthropist, founder of the most beautiful Ostankino residence near Moscow, and simply as a person with a fine artistic taste. It has been repeatedly noted that the “artistry” of the estate has never been sacrificed for convenience or anything else.
The first pond on the territory where Ostankino Park was later spread was at the beginning of the 17th century, it was built in the floodplain of the Gorlenka River, or, as it became known later, the Ostankino Creek. Later, the reservoir became known as the Palace Pond, as the most beautiful count's residence was located immediately behind it.
Saving virtues
The estate was so good that in the troubled year of 1918 it was not burned or plundered, but a state museum was created on its territory. Thanks to the responsible attitude of the authorities, in the Ostankino Palace even now you can hear the repertoire of the famous Sheremetyevsky Fortress Theater and see the original interiors of those times. This is the only theater building in Russia that has been preserved in its entirety: a stage, a hall, dressing rooms, an engine room, etc.
Urban Treasure
The modern Ostankino Park itself as a municipal formation of the Central Park of Culture and Culture named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky was organized in 1932 and existed under that name until 1990. And then, and now this park is one of the favorite places for recreation of Muscovites. It combines both educational leisure and just outdoor recreation. A fabulous pond that has all the modern equipment for water sports and relaxation. A unique manor that can be admired endlessly, and just all the modern attractions and services that can satisfy the various needs of visitors.
Signs of the Soviet era
During the years of Soviet power, the Ostankino Park, whose area in hectares is 65 hectares, was added to the characteristic features of those times. They are now becoming a landmark, such as a dance floor. Nostalgia for the best moments of that time makes it often shown in films as a symbol of the happiness of grandparents. The dance floor is dedicated to the film of the same name. Of the modern features of park culture, one can note the presence of asph alt paths for cycling and rollerblading. There are stables and a paint club, a large number of all kinds of cafes, a wooden manor (an architectural monument) is located on the square of the park, and visiting the site stops as soon as the air humidity exceeds 80%. Among the abundance of Moscow parks, Ostankino occupies a leading place as an object of excursions, fun, and entertainment.
Tribute to modern tastes
To attract even morenumber of visitors is planned to open fitness routes. And in general, a grandiose reconstruction of Muscovites' favorite vacation spot is planned. Its first stage has already affected the additional attraction for barbecue lovers, which was acquired by Ostankino Park. The barbecue area, open in the southern part, is already designed for 12 barbecues. There are also 26 large tables provided for numerous companies. A cozy nook with harvested timber has become a popular meeting place.
Both the natives of the capital and thousands of guests tend to visit the Ostankino Park. It is not difficult to find out how to get there, hundreds of guides and guides are at your service. We note the main landmark: the metro station "VDNKh" or "Alekseevskaya" is the exit to the desired object.
