The Ark of the Covenant is the box that Moses received from God on Mount Sinai. It contained ten basic commandments, as well as instructions for where they should be located. On the one hand, this relic can be considered fictional, but the exact descriptions of the ark in the Old Testament suggest that this is a real object that was once used by the Jews. It is noteworthy that this box was very important to God, because he indicated to Moses the names of the craftsmen who were supposed to make it, as well as the material from which it should be made.

What is very interesting is that nowhere is the period when the Ark of the Covenant disappeared. The Ethiopian trace, which many scholars are talking about today, suggests that the relic was kept in the Jerusalem temple, but after it was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, it disappeared without a trace. This fact suggests that during the siege, someone secretly took out the Ark of the Covenant and hid it.

There is no doubt that the last known resting place of the relic was Jerusalem. After the destruction, the temple was restored by King Cyrus, and everything looted was returned, but the box was not on the list and no one mentions anything about it, as if it never existed. There is an assumption that the ark was taken to Aksum, the capital of Ethiopia, by King Menelik, who is the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. In this town, indeed, there is a chapel guarded by armed men and a clergyman. It is assumed that this is where the relic is hidden.

To date, no one has been able to see the Ark of the Covenant. It is not possible to approach the chapel, as people sitting near it look like pilgrims, but are vigilantly watchingevery move of strangers. In Ethiopia there was a large community of Jews who kept themselves apart from the local population. Their religious practices were very different from modern Judaism, which confirms that their ancestors lived in the 7th century BC. under the reign of King Manasseh, who worshiped the god Baal. The believers could not allow the ark to remain in the defiled temple, so they moved it to Ethiopia.

For many years, Israel did not recognize members of the community as immigrants from their country, but in the twentieth century they were allowed to return home, which many did. What is in the chapel - a real ark or just a duplicate, has not yet been found out, but scientists are close to unraveling. Perhaps, when the relic is found, answers to many questions that worry researchers today will appear.
