There are a lot of wonderful museums in our country, but the best of them is the Hermitage. The museum is located in the city of St. Petersburg on Palace Embankment.

The museum traditionally has one day off - Monday. On all other days of the week, it opens its doors to its numerous visitors.

The Museum operates according to the following schedule. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: from 10:30 to 18:00.
Wednesday: 10:30 to 21:00.
Tickets for excursions are purchased on the day of visiting the museum at the box office, which has been open since the opening, but ends the sale one hour before the opening hours of the Hermitage.
Entrance fees vary by nationality. For foreigners, a visit to the museum will cost 400 rubles, for people who have a passport of a citizen of Russia or the Republic of Belarus - 250 rubles. Children, pupils and students are en titled to free admission. Russianpensioners also visit the museum for free.
There are two cafes on the ground floor of the Winter Palace. The museum is equipped with special lifting devices for people with disabilities. Wheelchairs are provided. There are souvenir stalls and bookstores on the territory of the museum.

It is difficult to single out a few of the best compositions in this museum, all the exhibits are unique, like the building itself. There are many art paintings, sculptures and objects of the great eras of our Motherland. Both permanent and temporary compositions work. Among the exhibits of Russian culture, a collection of icons occupies a special place. The most significant canvases are represented by such works as The Last Judgment and Life of St. Nicholas. All icons are not only amazing examples of icon painting, but also valuable from a historical and religious point of view.
In the jewelry gallery, visitors will find the legendary "Gold of the Scythians", gold items from Greece, church utensils, the most beautiful examples of jewelry art from Europe and Kievan Rus.
In the Oriental Art Hall there are paintings, sculptural compositions and products of applied crafts from such states as Thailand, Mongolia, Tibet, India, as well as the countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia. Separately, it is worth highlighting the composition "Golden Horde".
The Hermitage is notable for the fact that in addition to the richest world heritage of arts and crafts, it has unique walls, decorations and paintings.
