Pushkin Bridge: what is interesting and how to get there

Pushkinsky Bridge is a pedestrian crossing over the Moskva River, located in the Khamovniki district, the Central Administrative District of the capital. It is one of the city's engineering landmarks and often hosts photo shoots.

Backstory

The prototype and the main central part of the pedestrian crossing across the Moskva River, connecting Pushkinskaya and Frunzenskaya embankments, was the old Andreevsky bridge. He served Muscovites faithfully from the very beginning of the twentieth century and served as a link for the small ring of the Moscow railway in the section between the Kanatchikova and Vorobyovy Gory stations.

Andreevsky Bridge was erected in 1905-1907 under the leadership of Proskuryakov Lavr Dmitrievich - the greatest Russian bridge engineer and modernist architect Pomerantsev Alexander Nikolaevich.

Until 1917, Andreevsky Bridge was called Sergievsky in honor of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. In 1956, both bridges were reconstructed according to the design of the Soviet historian, architect and bridge engineer Nadezhin Boris Mikhailovich.

Construction

P. and Melaniev D. A. The most difficult stage of construction was the transfer of the central part of the Andreevsky bridge, which weighed 1.5 thousand tons, using barges. It was transported to a new location, located one and a half kilometers downstream, and then it was decided to call the new bridge Pushkinsky after the name of the embankment.

Features

Pushkin Bridge (Moscow) consists of the following parts:

• base - stuffed piles (more than 17 m);
• foundation - reinforced concrete slab;
• spans-arches: central, 135 m - metal (part of the old Andreevsky bridge), extreme, 25 m each - reinforced concrete.

The structure is equipped with a special lift designed for people with disabilities, but it does not always work.

From the side of Neskuchny there is a 200-meter overpass leading from Leninsky Prospekt to Pushkinskaya Embankment, and from the side of First Frunzenskaya Street there is a covered lobby with an escalator gallery.

Pushkinsky bridge in Moscow: how to get by metro

If you want to go on a tour by car, then to get to the bridge, it is better to use the navigator. However, the most convenient way to travel is by subway. The nearest station is Frunzenskaya. Also nearby are the stations "Park Kultury",Oktyabrskaya and Shabolovskaya.

How to get there by other types of public transport

To visit the Pushkin Bridge in Moscow (you already know how to get there by metro), you can also use the bus. The stop "Pervaya Frunzenskaya" of routes 79 and 79k is located directly on the embankment of the same name, at a distance of 400 m from the entrance to the bridge, that is, you will have to spend six to eight minutes walking. You can get there by public transport in another way. However, the stop with the same name for routes 28 and 31 is located a little further, at the Frunzenskaya metro station, which is about a kilometer and a half or fifteen to twenty minutes on foot.

What is interesting about Pushkin (Andreevsky) bridge

In the warm season, this building turns into a dangerous attraction. As already mentioned, in the central part of the Pushkin Bridge is decorated with a huge arch. Since it is easy to get there, young people climb on it and sit with their legs dangling and admiring the magnificent views of the river and the city center. Such an extreme pastime seems attractive to many, although it can end very badly.

Because the bridge is heated, it is a great place in winter to admire the snow-covered streets of the city while being warm. According to tourists, in the evening, in the lights of decorative lighting, Pushkin Bridge turns into a fabulous building that inspires not only amateurs, but also professional photographers.

Views

Of course, the main attraction,which can be seen by visiting the Pushkin Bridge (how to get there, see above), is the Moskva River itself. Due to the fact that it is navigable, you can see various ships, from large to small, on it. In addition, moorings are located on both sides of the main waterway of Moscow.

It is recommended to start the walk from Frunzenskaya embankment. Climbing the Pushkin Bridge, you will admire the panorama of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Sparrow Hills, the University and the new building of the Academy of Sciences. By the way, many find a certain similarity between the architectural appearance of the crossing and the last structure.

Andreevsky Monastery, founded in 1648, is also visible from the bridge. Although his surviving structures were built somewhat later, they are also of great interest.

An especially beautiful view opens up if you look towards the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. It resembles the one admired from the observation deck located near the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

From the Pushkin Bridge you can also admire the monumental building of the General Staff of the Russian Ground Forces, built in the style of Stalin's Empire style, and see the Kremlin towers. Moreover, if you look closely, you can even see the Kremlin stars from there.

Choosing entertainment for the weekend walking along the Frunzenskaya and Pushkinskaya embankments, crossing the Andreevsky (as many people call it out of habit) bridge and visiting the Neskuchny Garden and the Park of Culture, you will have a great time and get a lot of positive emotions.
