The beaches of Montenegro are the main we alth of the country. Here, on 73 km of the coast, you can find beaches for every taste: sandy, pebbly, rocky, with a gentle slope, wild and even nudist. They all have only one constant - unsurpassed purity of water.
When is the beach holiday season in Montenegro?
It is impossible to say exactly when the swimming season will open in the country, because it depends on the air temperature in spring. If it is warm enough, the season opens at the end of May. If the air is cool in spring, then it is better to visit the beaches of Montenegro starting from mid-June. The season usually closes in mid-September, although in good years people swim in October. August is considered the peak of the season, at this time the most popular beaches (especially in Budva) are very crowded. If you do not like to be crowded, like in an anthill, then choose sparsely populated beaches or another month for a trip to the country.
What are the beaches in Montenegro?
Montenegro is a country in a mountainous environment, so its coast is indented with picturesque bays and capes. For this reason, sandy beaches are found only in the south of the country. The rest of the coast is rockyor covered with large pebbles. This is not always convenient for tourists, so the beach authorities cover them with smaller pebbles.
That is why almost the entire coast has a mixed coverage - small-large pebble. Sometimes they bring sand, but it is washed out.
It is thanks to the mixed coverage that the beaches of Montenegro (the photo can be seen in the article) can boast such clear water.
Concrete beaches are also popular here, when part of the coast directly from the sea is poured with concrete and steps are organized for a comfortable descent to the water. This is not very convenient for families with children.
Beaches in the country are free, but you will have to pay for using an umbrella and a sunbed. Prices fluctuate depending on the location and luxury of the place, as well as the quality of the equipment provided.
The cleanliness of the beaches in the country
In Montenegro, there is no concept of "private beach", they are all state property and rented out. The rules for using them are approved at the legislative level. The tenant must monitor the condition of his territory all year round (even when the season is closed). During the summer, the entrepreneur undertakes to clean the beach daily. Also, according to the law, only half of the territory can be filled with sunbeds, the rest of the land is provided to lovers of sunbathing on a towel for free.
However, this rule does not apply to all areas of the country. According to the law, entry to the sea should only be free, even small fences should not be installed nearby forbeauty.
During the peak season, the most popular beaches can get a bit muddy as scavengers clean up in the morning and evening and the crowds of people heading to the beaches are huge. In other months, or on less frequented beaches, it is very clean.
Beaches of Budva
The Budva area offers travelers the most popular holiday destinations in the country. Which one to choose? The following options are available:
- Mogren - small pebble and romantic beach of Budva. On both sides it is pressed by rocks, the total length is 340 meters. That is why there is so little space here during the season - there are too many people who want to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
- Slavyansky Beach is the most noisy and party place on the coast in the whole country. It is located in the very center of Budva, so the infrastructure is developed with a bang. The surrounding area is full of shops, cafes and other entertainment.
- Yaz is a sandy beach in Montenegro. In places, sand is mixed with pebbles, but this does not deter tourists. It is difficult to get here on foot, it is better to take a taxi or a bus.
