The history of the famous village near St. Petersburg originates three centuries ago. At the behest of Peter the Great in 1714, the construction of a paper factory (or, as it was then called, a mill) began here. She has been transformed many times. Krasnoye Selo Park is still visited by thousands of tourists today. But the general architectural appearance of the settlement began to change. In the middle of the nineteenth century, a regular railway connection with St. Petersburg was opened.
The village became a city after the Great October Revolution, in 1918, and belonging to the Leningrad Region was established seven years later.
During the Great Patriotic War Krasnoye Selo was occupied by German troops. The city was liberated in January 1944.
