Chile is one of the countries of distant South America, which attracts tourists with a rich and varied holiday. Deserts and glaciers, national parks and large cities, valleys and mountains, lakes and caves - the choice of interesting places in Chile is truly great
Santiago
Let's start our acquaintance with this Latin American country from its capital - the city of Santiago. Built in a beautiful valley by order of the conquistador Valkivia, Santiago has become a real pride of its inhabitants. The city combines various architectural styles, where colorful colonial buildings from the time of the conquistadors coexist with stylish modern high-rise buildings.
Sights of Santiago (Chile) are mostly located in the central part of the city. It is interesting to visit the hill of Santa Lucia, which spread the branches of its gardens on the territory of the former fortress, the central square of the city with a statue of the founder of Santiago installed on it, La Moneda Palace (the current government residence), the oldest and largest Cathedral of Chile.
As in the capitals of other states, there are many museums in Santiago, the most interesting of them are the Pablo Neruda House Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of the Pre-Columbian Era (one of the most famousmuseums in Latin America).
The most beautiful and romantic place in the city is the Metropolitano Park, located on Mount San Cristobal, which offers stunning views of the capital of Chile. The attractions of this park are numerous walking areas, a zoo, a small botanical garden and, the most important and famous, a statue of the Virgin Mary, carved from white stone.
Easter Island
Easter Island, one of the most mysterious and secluded on the planet, belongs to Chile. The sights of the island, which made it famous all over the world, are moai, colossal statues carved from tufa and hard volcanic bas alt. It still remains a mystery how the descendants of the Polynesian and Indian peoples were able to create such monumental statues, however, it remains a mystery how the descendants of these peoples could even get to such an isolated Pacific island. At present, Easter Island is the National Park of Chile, the sights of which are annually visited by thousands of lovers of mysteries and mysteries. There are no luxury hotels and luxurious beaches on the island, but many interesting places fully compensate for their absence.
Valley of Geysers
Describing the sights of Chile, it is impossible not to mention the 3rd largest valley of geysers in the world, El Tatio, which is located at an altitude of more than 4300 meters above sea level. Here, with violent force, several hundred geysers release steam and water from the bowels of the earth. At dawn in the valley beginsa truly enchanting sight: steam, sulfur, boiling water and various minerals soaring into the air paint a stunning picture of many shades of different colors, constantly changing in the first rays of the sun.
Not far from the geysers there are thermal wells with warm water where you can swim.
San Rafael Lagoon
Wrapped in cold and completely covered in ice, it delights Chilean tourists. The sights, photos of which can be seen below, are located in the southernmost part of the country beyond the Strait of Magellan. You can get here only as part of an excursion group departing by boats and catamarans from the port of Puerto Chacabuco. Dazzling white ice against the blue sky, layers sliding into the blue waters of the bay from the blue wall of the glacier make a stunning impression. The age of the San Rafael glaciers is more than 30,000 years old, they are considered the oldest on our planet.
In the lagoon you can personally observe the process of iceberg formation: ice layers, forming huge clouds of spray, fall into the water from a height of several tens of meters. The most daring tourists can go on rubber boats to navigate between icebergs, swimming up to them at arm's length.
Atacama Desert
The Atacama Desert is the driest area in the world, where not a centimeter of precipitation may fall for several decades, but nevertheless it is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Chile, the sights of which are annually visited by tens of thousands of guests from different parts of the world. Atacama differs from the usual deserts with its riot of colors, rich natural and plant world. In the desert, the two most popular valleys are Death Valley and Moon Valley.
Moon Valley got its name for its resemblance to the landscapes of the Earth's satellite. At sunset, the shadows rushing through the valley, changing every minute, cast by numerous columns and caves, create a feeling of unreality of what is happening, not without reason many science fiction films were filmed here.
The name of Death Valley speaks for itself - a lifeless landscape of rocks, s alt marshes, sand and cracked earth stretches to the horizon. However, its high sand dunes, which can reach several hundred meters in height, attract fans of a new sport - sandboarding (boarding on the sand).
Lake District
One of the "greenest" places in the country is located between the southern ice and northern deserts - this is the Lake District. Between mountain peaks and volcanoes covered with snow caps, there are 12 large and many small glacial lakes. It seems that there is more water here than land, and from a bird's eye view, this area resembles a sieve. On the territory of the Lake District there are seven National Parks of the country with volcanoes, waterfalls and thousand-year-old evergreen forests.
Valparaiso
SightsChile is not only National parks, deserts and glaciers, but also beautiful cities. One of the most interesting and colorful cities in the country is Valparaiso. Cobbled streets, colorful houses, Gothic churches and old mansions create a unique spirit of antiquity. Valparaiso is called the city of poets and sailors, the most romantic city in Chile.
Chile is a country whose sights are known all over the world. This is a country of contrasts, secrets and romance, where everything is there: hot deserts and cold glaciers, lakes and mountains, lifeless valleys and modern cities.
