General information

The Botanichesky Sad metro station in question is one of the main metro facilities that were subjected to sharp unreasonable criticism in 2015,originated only in connection with the laziness of passengers to walk extra tens of meters along the path. This happened after the replacement of part of the escalators in one of the station vestibules.

The opening of the station occurred simultaneously with the completion of the construction of the Medvedkovo-VDNH line on September 29, 1978. This station (104th in a row) of the Moscow metro is located on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. It owes its name to the Main Moscow Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian Academy of Sciences), located not far from the metro, although its design names were Rostokinskaya and Rostokino. On the line itself, the station is located between VDNH and Sviblovo.

Origin of the name

As noted above, the name of the station is associated with the Main Botanical Garden. N. V. Tsitsina of the Academy of Sciences. Previously, until 1966, this name belonged to the current Prospect Mira station.

In the 1970s, it was planned to build a new exit from the garden at the south concourse of the station. The entrance to the station is now located near the Vladykino station. And the southern exit from the Botanical Garden is located on the territory of Leonovo Park.

Design

The Botanichesky Sad metro station was built from prefabricated structures (reinforced concrete). The platform has 2 rows of columns that support the floors and divide the station into three bays.

The lamps in the caissons perfectly illuminate the paths and the platform. They are made of gold anodized aluminum. The station columns are lined with lightmarble. The platform itself in the main hall is covered with gray granite and labradorite, and the track walls are covered with gray-white marble. The walls are decorated with metal panels with magnificent drawings on a variety of natural themes.

Lobbies

There are only 2 lobbies at Botanichesky Sad metro station. The ground south, located in the park, is connected to the platform by an escalator. The underground north lobby features a staircase leading to the main hall.

Exits from the southern lobby are located, as noted above, in the direction of Leonova and Wilhelm Peak streets. Serebryakov passage and Snezhnaya street can be accessed from the northern exit.
