The Voykovskaya station is located on the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line in Moscow. It is located under the Leningradskoe shosse on the territory of the district of the same name in the northern district of the capital. The station was opened in December 1964. It got its name from the iron foundry named after. P. Voykov, who is nearby.
History
The plan for the construction of the Voikovskaya station in the Moscow metro appeared back in 1938. Then it was mentioned in the 1957 scheme, but at that time the subway development program was often adjusted, so construction began only in 1959. Built in an open way according to a standard project.
The station is a three-span column structure with a shallow foundation. The commissioning of Voykovskaya as part of the Rechnoy Vokzal - Sokol section took place on 1964-31-12. After that, the Moscow metro became 72 stations.
The Voykovskaya metro station was named after the nearby Moscow Iron Foundryplant named after the Russian revolutionary Pyotr Voikov. In addition, she retained the name of the workers' settlement Voykovets, which previously existed near the plant.
At the same time, the history of the name of the Voykovskaya metro station still excites the public. Many Muscovites demand to rename it because of the criminal acts of Pyotr Voikov, who is considered involved in the murder of the family of Nicholas II.
The issue of renaming the station in November 2015 was even raised at the Active Citizen electronic referendum. According to the voting results, 53 percent of the participants were against the name change.
Despite the completion of the survey, the public debate continues to this day. Deputies of A Just Russia propose to name the Voykovskaya metro station after Eldar Ryazanov. In 2016, Patriarch Kirill spoke out about the inadmissibility of preserving the name of P. Voikov in Moscow toponymy.
Design and architecture
The station was built under Khrushchev, when the decision to eliminate excesses in design was in effect, so it is decorated modestly. The track walls are covered with black and blue ceramic tiles. The floor is paved with gray granite and the columns are lined with white marble.
There are two benches on the platform of the Voykovskaya metro station, at the northern and southern exits, and an emergency call column in the center.
Location
"Voykovskaya" is located between the stations "Water Stadium" and "Sokol". The exits are connected to underground passages, whichthey end with pavilions leading to Ganetsky Square, Leningradskoye Highway, Kosmodemyanskikh Street and the Leningradskaya railway platform. It is ten kilometers from Voykovskaya metro station to the center of the capital.
There are exits to trolleybus and bus stops located on both sides of Leningradka. There is a tram stop near the east exit.
340 meters from Voykovskaya is the Leningradskaya railway platform, through which trains depart from Kursk and Rizhsky stations.
