Description of the mountain
Mount Sober-Bash is located inside of the Main Caucasian Range. It is surrounded by relatively small peaks. The height of the mountain itself is about 735 m. A distinctive feature of Sober-Bash is its shape. The top seems to be cut off by a giant knife. Steep slopes end with a flat plateau, which is about a kilometer long and 500 m wide. Tourists rush to this site. From here you have great views of the surroundings. At the top you can set up camp and relax after a difficult climb.
The mountain is recognized as a natural monument and protected by the state.

Climbing the mountain by car
The automobile route for lifting was laid in the second half of the last century. Concrete slabs were laid all the way to the top. Currently, some of them have fallen into disrepair. In dry warm weather, it is possible to overcome the route even by an ordinary city car. But if it's raining, then it's better to hit the road in an SUV. The descent from the mountain is no less extreme and will require skill and knowledge of the route from the driver. The length of the road is only 6 km, but experts advise driving to the Rimba spring, and walking from it to save the suspension and other important parts of the car.
In winter, it is better not to go by car to the top of Mount Sober-Bash at all, because the slopes are covered with a thick layer of ice and snow.

Mystical name
Mount Sober-Bash in the Krasnodar Territory in ancient times, the Adygs who inhabited these lands had a sacred meaning. They worshiped this elevation. It was considered a place of power. Translated from the language of the highlanders, the name means "witch's mountain." In the old days, it was believed that evil spirits triple the covens on its flat surface.top.
In written sources, other names of this hill have been preserved - Sober-Oashkh, Sober-Kuaskho, Sobai-Ua and others. Under such names, she is mentioned in the tales and legends of the highlanders.
Attractions
There are many sights and iconic places on Mount Sober-Bash that are worth visiting while climbing.
Two observation decks with stunning views. The first is located in a clearing on top of a mountain near meteorological towers. The second is at the highest point. In good weather, visibility reaches 100 km. You can see the nearest settlements and Krasnodar, the peaks of the peaks of neighboring ridges. The sight is amazing.
There are also memorable signs in the mountains. One of them is installed in memory of the Boston plane crashed during the war, and the other is dedicated to the crashed crew of the R-5 plane.
On the slope there is a picturesque Rimba spring, where you can draw clean mountain water and relax on a h alt. Nearby there is another source of Kalina, but in hot weather it dries up. There is also a spring on the southern slope, but it is quite difficult to get close to it.
There are waterfalls on Sober-Bash. True, they are not as majestic and grandiose as the world-famous Victoria or Niagara. One of them lies on the path of the Around the World trail, called "Men's Tears". Water flows down from a ledge 5-6 m high. From the name of the source it is clear that it is not distinguished by its power and fullness. Indeed, in the Caucasus, men's tears are very mean. The second waterfall is downstream, but finding itnot so easy. Because of this, it is called "Hidden". Its height is 11 m and it looks more picturesque. Both waterfalls are most full in spring during the flood, and in the summer they both become shallow.
Dolmens are another attraction of Sober-Bash. According to legend, the mountain was a place of power. And the purpose of these buildings is still not fully understood. According to one version, they served just for communication with the cosmos, for meditation and for the energy supply of enlightened people. Unfortunately, not a single whole dolmen has been preserved, but you can see quite well-preserved ruins. One is located near the beginning of the ascent, and the other is at the Utaenny waterfall. Not far from the dolmens, one can distinguish mounds.
There are rocks on the mountain. But they are unsuitable for sport climbing.
Mount Sober-Bash has now lost its sacred meaning. Today, like a magnet, it attracts those who want to relax in nature or test the strength of the spirit on the steep slopes.
