Starfish are one of the most amazing creatures that hides the depths of the ocean. They got their name due to the five-pointed shape of the body, which is interesting in that it always maintains perfect cleanliness. Tiny flaps on the surface of the skin shed the smallest bits of debris to keep this creature's skin gills clean.
According to the method of reproduction, starfish are asexual and sexually active. The first can be divided into 2 and 3 "beams", which then grow another 3-2 processes, respectively. Some species can separate one part, on which 4 shoots grow. In others, the offspring can grow in the stomach, in a special bag near the mouth, or simply on the back. Stars feed on crustaceans, other echinoderms and mollusks, demonstrating amazing strength when opening the shells of the latter.
Starfish can be of various colors. Amur samples, for example, are bluish with white patterns, henricia are beige or red. And evasteria -some of the largest ones are red with a blue pattern and have a “diameter” of up to 0.7 meters. They have very interesting eyesight - they distinguish day from night with the help of special cells located at the tip of each … leg.
The beautiful appearance of this animal contributes to the fact that numerous establishments, including hotels, often take such names for themselves. So did, for example, the boarding house "Starfish", located in the new part of the Bulgarian town of Sozopol.
