B altiysky railway station (St. Petersburg) is located on the banks of the Obvodny Canal, in close proximity to the city center. Geographically, it belongs to the Admir alteisky district. The volume of passenger traffic that passes through the B altiysky station every day is several thousand people, which makes it one of the most important stations throughout the North-West. The history of the station begins in 1853. At this time, a railway was being built between the capital and Peterhof. After this, the paths were also laid to Gatchina, Krasnoye Selo and Tallinn. The construction was financedfrom the treasury, he was sponsored by Stieglitz - a well-known industrialist. All this time, the station was called Petergofsky, but after the start of communication with Tallinn, it was renamed B altic.

The station building was designed by architect A. I. Krakau. The prototype for its construction was the Paris East Station. The architect took it as a basis, but approached the process creatively and refreshed the project with new ideas. The station building is divided into two wings, which are united by the main facade. The central part is decorated with towers and a stained-glass window with a built-in clock.

The first reconstruction of the station was carried out in the 1930s. In the course of it, the main entrance was moved, the beginnings of the tracks were removed from under the glass dome, replacing it with a waiting room. All this made the station more comfortable for passengers and increased the useful area of the premises.

Another important change was made in 1955. The metro lobby was attached to the station building. At the same time, the symmetry of the station was broken, but the comfort of passengers increased significantly. Walking distance to the metro and the station make the trip convenient for city residents and tourists. The entrance to the station lobby is decorated with portraits of famous ship captains - Makarov, Kornilov, Ushakov and Nakhimov.

B altic Station often took part in many events of the city. He was in the thick of the main actions during the uprisings of the Great October Revolution. The building was captured by the rebels, who kept the defenses in it and repulsed the attacks.

It was in the B altic direction that the first electric train was launched. His route continued to the Ligovo railway station. This event happened in 1930.

Station Square was originally decorated with a monument to Stalin. It was later dismantled. Currently, B altiyskaya Square serves as a departure point for public and commercial transport routes to the suburbs of St. Petersburg.
