Gryazi-Voronezhskiye - a junction station in the city of Gryazi, Lipetsk Region, belonging to the South-Eastern Railway. It is located at the intersection of two major directions: Moscow - Rostov-on-Don and Smolensk - Volgograd. This leads to a large number of passengers per day, which is approximately 6 thousand people.

The station has three double-track electrified lines - to Yelets, Liski and Michurinsk - and one single-track line going to Povorino and serving only diesel locomotives, which have a change of locomotives at Gryazi-Voronezhsky station.

History of Creation

The construction of the Gryazi-Voronezhsky station began at the very moment when the Ryazan-Kozlov line (today Michurinsk) was opened on September 4, 1866. At the same time, the foundation stone of the future station was laid. The construction of the first station was completed in January 1868, and at that time it was a wooden house with a class II mezzanine. A wooden platform 90 meters long and 2.5 fathoms wide was built, and the tracks were located only on the north side. The train station was typicalfor that time: on the first floor there were waiting rooms of the 1st and 2nd class, as well as a buffet, a kitchen, cash desks and a telegraph office. The stationmaster's apartment was on the second floor.

The station worked for two months, and it became clear that the station building is too small, so it needs to be reconstructed. In 1870, a one-story wooden building was added to it. But due to insufficient funding, the construction of the tracks on the south side did not begin until 1875. At that time, a new station was being built in St. Petersburg, so the construction did not begin on the site of the old station, but required a redevelopment of the tracks. By 1883, the work was completed, and the station became one of the best in the entire Russian railway network.

Reconstruction after the war

For about 30 years, the station prospered and received its passengers, among whom were famous writers L. N. Tolstoy, A. M. Gorky and I. A. Bunin. But in 1919, the village was captured by the Mammoths, the station suffered, the damage amounted to about 900 thousand rubles at that time.

During the Great Patriotic War, the station was also bombed by German soldiers and was completely destroyed, about 350 bombs were dropped on it, hundreds of people were injured. According to some reports, 189 residents and guests of the village died.

Restoration of the station began only in the 50s of the twentieth century. It was completely built in 4 years, completely new and improved, it began to receive passengers againdaily. The station was electrified, which made it possible to receive long-distance trains and increase capacity. Improvements also took place in 1984, on April 15 an underground pedestrian crossing was opened (previously there was only a surface one), which was built using the punching method, which made it possible not to stop the movement of trains.

Today the station has 24 tracks, 4 platforms: 3 island and 1 side. Gryazi-Voronezhskiye is served by 27 long-distance trains with connections to 30 stations and 3 commuter trains.
