The Severyanin platform has been popular with both Moscow residents and guests of the capital for several years in a row. The thing is that across the road from it, the largest shopping center in all of Europe (within the city) - "Golden Babylon" opens its doors to everyone every day.
Instead of metro
It is only since September 2016, as part of the launch of the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), the Rostokino metro station was opened in the capital city in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center. And before that, the only high-speed transport that had a stopping point in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center was the Yaroslavl direction of the Moscow Railways. The nearest metro stations: "VDNKh", "Botanical Garden" and "Sviblovo" - are located two kilometers from the shopping center and beyond. And this is about half an hour of walking through a semi-industrial territory, and even then with a brisk step and in good weather. You can, of course, get from the metro and by bus, but forsuburban residents, especially for those who live in the north of the Moscow region, it is much more convenient to use suburban electric trains. For them, the Severyanin platform is the most convenient access to the shopping center.
History
Northern railway stop was opened in 1932. A few years before that, they had just succeeded in electrifying regular railway communication between the capital and Mytishchi near Moscow. Due to the rapid growth of industrial enterprises, a sharp increase in passenger traffic prompted the management to equip new stations.
The platform "Severyanin" got its name in honor of the suburban village "Red Severyanin". Prigorodny, because in those years Moscow had not yet gone beyond the boundaries of the Moscow circular railway (where the Moscow Central Circle now runs). And although the residential part of the settlement is located a little to the north, in the area of Yeniseiskaya Street, this did not save it from the sad fate. The village was completely demolished in the late fifties, and the Moskva-Tovarnaya marshalling yard was built in its place.
Fast and convenient
Yaroslavskoe direction of the Moscow Railway originates from the station of the same name, and it will take the passenger only 14 minutes to get to the Severyanin platform from here. During this time, the train manages to cover seven kilometers and make 3 possible additional stops. Many agree that it is much faster and more convenient than standing in a traffic jam getting to the Golden Babylon shopping centeron the free bus. The Yaroslavl station itself is located almost in the center of the city, on the square of three stations in Moscow, not far from the Komsomolskaya metro station. Despite the fact that the Severyanin platform is located in the second zone, the fare in Moscow is the same and amounts to 32 rubles for a one-way ticket.
Location
The stopping point consists of two island platforms and one side platform. In 2008, the station was partially reconstructed, equipped with ASOCUPE system passenger checkpoints, and additional fences were also installed on its borders to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the territory of the railway track and track development of the station. The third platform, the eastern one, is a reserve one, it is used extremely rarely, only during the peak load of the line and for the passage or temporary settling of freight trains. A footbridge connects all three platforms.
Finding the location of the Northerner platform can sometimes be tricky, especially for first-time visitors to the area. From prying eyes, it is successfully hidden by the massive base of the automobile flyover of the same name. From the other end, it is difficult to distinguish it due to heavy traffic at the junction of the Yaroslavl highway with the Serebryakov passage and Yeniseiskaya street. However, you can access it safely and anywhere. On the one hand, the entrance to the Severyaninsky bridge is crossed through an underground pedestrian crossing, and on the other, through an elevated one.
Transfers
The development of the capital's public transport does not stand still, which is what Moscow is famous for. The Severyanin platform was actively included in the passenger rapid transport system in September 2016, with the opening of the Rostokino MCC station. The transition between stations takes about 5-7 minutes and runs along the street sidewalk.
Currently, the construction of a "warm transition" between the stations is underway, for which they plan to move the platform 250 meters south. Bus and trolleybus services both along the Yaroslavl highway, and along the Yeniseiskaya street and along Serebryakov passage, have a stop "Platform" Severyanin "on their way. The nearest metro they connect is the stations" Botanical Garden "," Sviblovo "and" VDNKh ". And bus route 93 reaches the Medvedkovo metro station. You can also transfer to the platform from tram route 17, which will take the passenger either to the VDNKh metro station or to Babushkinskaya.
Train collision
On April 19, 2003, near the Losinoostrovskaya station, on the border of which the Severyanin platform is located, a train collision occurred, as a result of which two people died and fourteen were injured. A railcar LMS crashed into a stationary utility train with a KZD crane, transporting a team of repairmen to the place of electrical work.
The overlay led to a tragic disasterseveral factors. The driver of the trolley, violating the instructions of the dispatcher, went beyond the border of the station, where the collision occurred. Moreover, there were 21 workers in the handcar, instead of 9 laid. The dispatcher violated the rules for the movement of shunting trains on the railway, and the station attendant allowed the railcar to leave without checking the train radio station and documents.
