Orsk Airport is the second major air transport hub in the Orenburg region. It is located 16 km south of the city of the same name, not far from the border with Kazakhstan. Russians living in this region, as well as citizens of Kazakhstan, actively use its services.

History

Orsk Airport was founded in 1958, during the Soviet period. At that time, the aircraft fleet of the enterprise included An-2 and Yak-12 aircraft. A few years later, Il-14, Li-2 aircraft began to be serviced here. In 1969, the airport began to serve passenger flights to Moscow and back, which were carried out on the An-24.

In the 70s, Soviet civil aviation began to develop rapidly, so there was a need to modernize the conditions for servicing passenger traffic. In 1982, construction began on a new complex on the site of the current airport. The largest enterprises of the region take part in the work. In 1984, the construction of a new runway began. In this regard, civil aircraft are accepted at the Pervomaisky military airfield, not far from Orsk.

In 1987 beganto operate a new runway with artificial turf, which made it possible to serve Tu-134 airliners. And in 1991, direct flights were opened along the Orsk-Moscow route. By 1993, work was carried out on the reconstruction of the runway, and a technical flight was made on the domestic Tu-154 aircraft. A year later, maintenance of the IL-76 begins here. In 1998, Orsk Airport received the status of an international air transport hub.

In the post-Soviet period, contracts are actively concluded with Russian and foreign air carriers. Until 2003, the organization was one of the structural divisions of the Orenburg airline, but later it became a municipal one. By 2011, the second runway upgrade was completed.

Currently, Orsk Airport serves three air carriers, including one foreign one. Orenburg Airlines operates flights to Svetly, Dombarovsky, Adamovka and Orenburg. Regular flights to Moscow are operated by Saratov Airlines and Khan Air Systems.
