Vyborgskaya embankment is a legendary place. The pavement along the right bank of the Neva was laid out in the middle of the 19th century. Where is Vyborgskaya Embankment located? Location

Vyborgskaya embankment in St. Petersburg has a combined numbering with Pirogovskaya, the continuation of which it is. On the other hand, it smoothly passes into Ushakovskaya. The Aptekarskaya Embankment runs parallel to Vyborgskaya on the opposite bank of the river. Two bridges are thrown between the banks - Kantemirovsky and Grenadier.

The embankment was created a long time ago for a city whose age has barely passed three hundred years - in the second half of the nineteenth century. It received its modern borders and name in the spring of 1887. In 1979, two more embankments were added to it - Ushakovskaya and Pirogovskaya, but ten years later they again became independent. Vyborskaya embankmentcalled in the 18th century. At that time, this name was given to the right bank of the river between the places where today the Ushakovsky and Sampsonevsky bridges are located. A century later, the embankment acquired a roadway.

History of the embankment

At the end of the eighties of the XIX century, two more embankments were allocated from Vyborgskaya: Sampsonievskaya and Stroganovskaya. The first was later called the Fokin embankment, and today it is only a part of the Pirogovskaya embankment. The second, located between the Ushakovsky bridge and the Black River, was named the Admiral Ushakov embankment in 1979. Today it is simply called Ushakovskaya.

In the mid-1970s, a tunnel was created on the embankment. It was located near the Grenadier Bridge. With the help of this tunnel, a decoupling of traffic flows on Grenadierska Street and the embankment itself was created. At the end of the same decade, the Vyborgskaya embankment was transformed - it included three other embankments: Fokina, Pirogovskaya and modern Ushakovskaya (at that time - Admiral Ushakov). But ten years later it was returned to its former borders, leaving only Fokina and Pirogovskaya embankments united.

Neighbouring streets

Vyborgskaya embankment is adjacent to many city streets. Their names are familiar even to those who have never been to the Northern capital. Adjacent to the embankment are Grenaderskaya, Smolyachkova Street, Maly Sampsonievsky Prospekt, Helsingforsskaya, Matrosova and many others.

Transport hubs near the embankment are very successful. Not far from hermetro stations "Chernaya Rechka", "Vyborgskaya" and "Forest" are located. They all belong to different branches, so you can get from here in a variety of directions. The distance to Lesnaya and Chernaya Rechka is just over a kilometer, and Vyborgskaya station can be reached along Smolyakova Street, walking a little over half a kilometer.

Public transport

The route number K400 moves along the embankment itself. This bus is of a suitable direction, it stops at the railway stations "Lanskaya" and "New Village", as well as at the Finnish railway station. The distance to Novaya Derevnya and to the Finnish Station from the embankment is approximately 1.7 kilometers each.

Infrastructure

There are many important city objects on the embankment. So, number 4 is the building of the Grenadier business center. There is also a large office center, Helsingfors. It is located at the intersection of the embankment with Helsingforsskaya street in the second building. Nearby, on the same street, at number 3, there is a factory for the production of fabrics and threads "Red Thread". Another business center is located a little further along the embankment, at number 55 - Gregoris Palace. Also here is the Aquatoria business center, the Exis car dealership and many other facilities.

Sights include Golovin's Dacha and Golovinsky Garden. Among St. Petersburg's many embankments, this one is one of the oldest. Its rich history is an object of interest in itself.many tourists. On this embankment, you can plunge into the atmosphere of true St. Petersburg and enjoy its historical mood.

Repair of the Vyborg embankment

Over the past century, the pavements along the Neva have been reconstructed more than once. The Vyborgskaya embankment is no exception. Nevertheless, in the last decade, this part of the historical center of the Northern capital was in a rather neglected state. The long-awaited renovation was carried out not so long ago - in 2015. Road works have caused many hours of traffic jams. So, for several days, entry was restricted at the Grenadier Gate.

Vyborgskaya embankment has not been repaired for more than ten years. Restoration work cost the city budget about 200 million rubles. Today this part of the city is in excellent condition. Vyborgskaya embankment, of course, is not as popular as, for example, Nevsky Prospekt. Nevertheless, famous architectural monuments are located nearby. In addition, the Neva River is in some way a landmark of the Northern capital.
