Among avid tourists, vacations in small exotic countries are very common. One of these is Costa Rica. Where is this little-known but very beautiful country located? Not all Europeans know the answer to this question.
Geography of Costa Rica
Several years ago, a well-known domestic agency decided to offer tours to Costa Rica to customers. The first few months the novelty was not successful. Most clients asked one question: “Costa Rica, where is it?” Today, the popularity of a small Central American country among tourists has increased significantly. Its southern neighbor is Panama, and its northern neighbor is Nicaragua. The coast of the country is washed by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. If you are looking for places of amazing natural beauty, then even the most sophisticated tourist will like Costa Rica, where there are many nature reserves.
Culture, way of life and religion of the inhabitants of the country
Costa Ricans are one of the most peaceful and patriotic nations. Every native inhabitant of the country knows the history of his Motherland and remembers his ancestors. After a bloody civil war that happened more than 60 years ago, the countrythe regular army was completely disbanded. The government has a policy of abstaining from any armed conflict. Pacifism is expressed even in the national motto, which sounds like this: "Long live labor and peace!" Data from studies conducted a couple of years ago show that Costa Rica, where the most satisfied people are located, is the country with the highest happiness index. The cultural level of the inhabitants is quite high for this region. Noteworthy is the library in San Jose, which is over 125 years old.
According to the current Constitution, Catholicism is declared the official religion of the country. Significant money for the financing of the Church is allocated by the state from the budget.
Costa Rican Cuisine
The most famous national dish is casados. Its second name is pinto. It is very simple to prepare: you just need to mix the beans with rice and vegetables to taste. Casados is served as a side dish for meats.
Costa Ricans are very unpretentious to food. Their main diet is rice, fruits, vegetables (beans are especially common - this is a phenomenon throughout Latin America) and some meat. The spices common in Europe do not enjoy much love. Preference is given to sauces and ketchup, which are generously flavored with most local dishes.
